WiFi Temperature Sensor Smart Thermometer: Digital Temperature Monitor Gauge with Waterproof External Probe, App Alert & Buzzer Alarm, Rechargeable Battery, for Freezer, Refrigerator, Fish Tank

I've set this up with a cheap portable sim modem to monitor and alarm if the temperature in my motorhome goes too high or low for my dog. It's great and reliable.

I'll start this review with a warning: I am a geek and don't apologise for that. We have recently moved house and have an air source heat pump and sometimes the hot water seems tepid instead of hot. I wanted some way to monitor the water temperature in the hot water tank 24/7 and this promised to do exactly that. The setup was easy: install an app, pair the device with your phone, connect to the home WiFi and it was working. I installed it in a stat pocket in the tank (designed for this exact purpose) and it all works. The probe goes into the pocket and the meter attaches to the tank magnetically. It has a very obvious and bright red display (no problem for me as my water tank is in the garage but if this were in my bedroom at night it would drive me mad). It all couples to the Tuya IoT platform so I can actually monitor it myself and control other parts of the system based on its output.

I needed to remotely monitor the central heating flow temperature of a communal heating system and this product fulfilled all my requirements perfectly. It was extremely accurate and matched the controller temperature measurement without any need to offset the temperature in the app. It connected easily to a distant WiFi router and has so far not lost the signal. It connected seamlessly to the Smart Life app I already had on my phone. Not sure if it's a function of the temp sensor or the app but it it displays a very useful temperature/time graph. I would highly recommend this product.

Not bad little device, I use it now to measure the top of my hot water cylinder. Handy because I can instantly see how much HW we have on my phone. App is a bit clunky but works. Be warned though, this does not last long after a charge so you have to leave it plugged in to a USB. So not much good if you haven’t a socket nearby.

We’ve got a pressurised hot water tank fed (over quite a distance) from an LPG boiler. There was no way to really know if the water was hot enough (or how much of it) for a bath or shower, without running the tap for ages and finally deciding yes or no. The internal thermostat could call up hot water, but having this on 24/7 is excessive when on LPG. And doing timers always seemed to not work out for us. I’ve fixed the probe of this device to the tank metal about midway up (seemed to be a good compromise to detect the hot/cold boundary) and run some experiments to work out what readings were relating to what level of hot was present. When a shower is called for, we now simply ask Alexa how hot the tank is, and to boost Hive as required. Easy and saves the family double heating or running loads of water to see if it’s warm or not. Already helped on the bills.

I’ve read the reviews of this sensor and they don’t make sense. The only way you can measure the accuracy of water temperature of a water tank is if the pro is actually touching the water. If you put this against your hot water tank, it’s probably going to be 20 to 25° below what the water actually is in the tank. I’m certain that this item is not being advertise correctly it is no good for measuring hot water in a tank If it cannot touch the water. It doesn’t matter whether you push it through the insulation on the outside of the tank it’s not going to Work.

I liked that is small, with a bit of autonomy/battery, but after about 3 weeks it started going offline every now and then. Now is completely offline and I doesn't want return. Unfortunately the unit is in another country and I can't return it.

Accurate enough with room to adjust if needed through the app, easy to connect using smart life app, perfect for remote monitoring and control

Bought to give warning when wood burner water temperature gets too high and it works pretty well with the temperature probe clamped to the burner water outlet. The probe cable is a bit short so the device is quite close to the hot wood burner but so far it hasn’t melted. Would be nice if a probe cable extension was available but so far I haven’t found one. Would also be nicer if there was a physical button on the device or a way via the app to acknowledge the alert.
