Good picture quality and stability, especially for the price, app is not mandatory for PC
This is way better than the older generic USB microscope, mostly because of the significantly better stand and increased resolution. It also seems to have higher depth of focus, with the old one I could barely get two whole sides of a QFN64 chip to be in focus at the same time. As for the stand, you can indeed get a much better, very stable aluminium stand with a geared height adjustment for both the old and the new microscope, but this only works for looking at things straight from above. This is why the improved metal stand for this microscope is such a big feature - it is at least somewhat stable and allows inspecting things like a phonograph stylus from different angles without having to prop it up on something. The generic stand of other USB microscopes with the plastic claw and two ball joints is absolutely miserable in comparison. So with this microscope you can probably save on the separate upgraded stand, which is a similar cost to the actual device. The phone app works OK, but I find it more comfortable to use with a computer (works as an ordinary webcam). The focus ring is also less annoying than in the old one. Also be aware that the clear plastic funnel can be removed and reattached (not just the cap IN the funnel) if you want to get the microscope closer to the object and there is something in the way. You can use this microscope for coins, post stamps, electronics, and assessing the condition of plant parts, record player styli and shaver blades (included the comparison of old electric shaver blades and brand new ones - there is an immediately visible difference), repairing scratches in vinyl records that skip, among other things. I do recommend the free software called S-Eye, that allows the image to be flipped back to the real orientation, unlike Windows 11 Camera app that only used to have that function. This makes doing actual work on the observed object much easier.

New life for USB microscope
Just got this delivered today and it looks to be another wonder of CNC milling techniques that makes something like this inexpensive and well-made. The fit and finish are excellent, It went together easily, fits my USB "microscope" perfectly and securely and has a smooth action that will allow close focusing. The microscope was more of a curiosity than a useful tool because of the poor stability of the stand that it came with...potential but frustratingly unreachable due to instability. This will allow adjusting of lighting, magnification and focus without disturbing the object under study. I bought the USB "microscope" with the idea of using it as a fine soldering aid but that was a false hope due to the instability. I was able to "jury rig" a stand but it was shaky and hard to focus I tried several years later to examine the stylus tip of my stereo cartridge and sort of succeeded...at least I could see the accumulated dust and crap and removing that improved my sound quite a bit. I haven't gotten back to that yet but the much improved stability promises to be a big assist. The only "con" I can see is the little bit of slop in the focus pinion on the rack. If that were gone, it would be perfect, but it does not translate to motion of the scope so it is not a big deal.

Works for me to see mites
Still need to work with it a bit but it seems to work ok. App is not great but I only use it to check for mites on my plants.

Good quality and clear magnified picture
This digital microscope is awesome. I got it to use for electronic work on components that are incredibly small. There is no way I would be able to see the components clearly without this. It does zoom in and make the small parts much larger on the monitor but one thing to keep in mind is that this along with most budget microscopes is there isn't going to be depth perception so if you are trying to grab something with a pair of tweezers you will just have to find your bearings, go slow and realize how close or far away you are from the components. This is what I did and it worked out just fine. This is especially good for looking at coins or paper currency but it also worked for my electronic work. I recommend it.

Far Exceeds Expectations for Given Price
The images this little microscope provides are incredible. Given its low price, I did not think it would work too well, but I was wrong. It's not perfect: sometimes the scope connects effortlessly to my phone or tablet, sometimes it doesn't and I have to reconnect it. No biggie there. Now, it says "4K" resolution. Wellllllllll... there are several resolution choices, from 640X480 up to 3840X2160 (4K). After carefully testing and comparing images, I can say that the 4K setting provides a VERY SLIGHT improvement over the lowest resolution. Definitely not what one would hope. In other words, the resolution settings are kind of BS. The focuser can also be a bit finicky. Please note that depending on the objective lens's distance from the subject, there are often two (sometimes three???) places where you can get a sharp image: one low power, and the other close up and much more magnified. Does it really let you see things 1000X bigger? Welllllllll... there's definitely some sleight of hand in that claim. Around 100X (enough power to see all kinds of weird stuff) is more like it, but that number is a lazy guess. Still, I give it five stars. Why? Because it opens up fascinating, satisfying, and sometimes terrifying views of reality; views that are normally impossible, including with traditional microscopes. And it does so at such a low price that you won't have a heart attack when your five-year-old (or your forty-year-old self) drops it in water and destroys it.

Meh, is this really a "microscope?". But you get what you paid for.
Look, I suppose that *technically* this is a microscope in that will 'make little things big.' If you're into collecting coins and stamps, or if you work on circuits, this will work for you. It's the dead of winter, so insects are hard to come by, and I can't say whether or not it's good at viewing the fine features of insect anatomy. But I bet it's pretty good for that. However, if by microscope you mean something that will let you see cell structure in a plant or a skin sample, I don't think so. Of course, and unlike a lot of companies selling similar products, I don't think Jiusion ever advertised this product as any more than that. You get what you pay for. If you want to do something more sophisticated or want to use this for aesthetically-pleasing photomicrography, I'd recommend that you take that money and put it toward a more sophisticated product. But, that said, this product has a lot going for it, including its price, its fairly easy connectivity to smartphones via a direct wi-fi connectoin or to a pc/mac with a usb cable, its bright and adjustable LED lights, its portability, pretty decent resolution. The advertised 4-hour battery life has got to be a plus if you want to take it for wilderness hikes or whatever. Plus, it's got this little clear plastic dome separating the camera from the table surface. And that dome has a cap for when you're traveling with it. I don't know if this is a feature, but I imagine that you could put a live insect in there and take pictures and video of it. Although it's simple for an adult to use, I wouldn't get this for a child unless they had their own smart phone and were ~13 years or older. Otherwise, a toy that you thought would entertain the kiddies for hours on end probably will give you a whole lot of "I can't make it work, Mommy/Daddy, can you fix it for me?" There are children's digital microscopes which come with an onboard screen.

Not a laboratory instrument but for my hobbies it is excellent.
Compact and easy to use. I tested it with my PC and with my android phone. It was easy to make connection and display an image on both devices. The resolution is beautiful and focusing is effortless. I especially like the fact that it can be used with no cables attached. That means no cable to get entangled with plant leaves and flower stems. The software for it is downloaded from android play and works without any configuration. The one thing that had me confused is the magnification buttons. They allow you to set digital magnification from x1 to x2 in x0.2 steps. digital magnification trades image size for resolution. The main focusing is optical focus by turning a ring near the lense end of the microscope. The Microscope appears to be solidly constructed. The function buttons have a light soft touch that should not interfere with holding the microscope steady when capturing an image. The android app is called "Wifi check" and the wifi access point is HD-Microscope-e9f0. I uploaded an image of a fine linen shirt and of a screenshot with image of a coarse fabric so that you can see the function buttons.

False Advertising: Not 4K
Giving it a zero star is a little harsh because it is not totally useless. However, the false claims must be condemned. As many have already pointed out, it is not 1000x, which is obvious. 1000x is almost the limit of an optical microscope, not something achievable under $40. Also there is a single knob for zoom and focus; so it effectively has only two zoom levels. And for the highest zoom level, the object has to be very close, but the outter casing is in the way unless the object is very small. The claim that it is 3840x2160P resolution is also false. Capturing an image at 3840x2160 gives no more information than 1920x1080. Just compare the images taking at 3840x2160 and 1920x1080 of the same object and it is clear when zoomed into the image the 3840x2160 only adds more noise. The manufacturer tries to fool you with some sort of interpolation and obscure it with JPEG compression. See the side-by-side comparison. Although there are features to like about this product, we must give it the lowest rating to discourage false advertising.

Essecial , piece of equipment for a mini microscope
I bought this piece of equipment to for a small digital microscope that I use for examining my LP records. It is a perfect fit and the ability to accurately move the microscope towards the grooves of the records precicely is just what I needed. It is built of solid looking aluminium on a decent base so should last a long time. Recommended.
