I bought the Arcturus Military Wool Blanket for camping and car emergency use, and it has quickly become one of my most-used pieces of gear. This thing is seriously impressive for the price. The blanket is thick, heavy (about 4.5 lbs), and feels very high quality. The 80% wool blend keeps you surprisingly warm even when it’s damp or cold outside — a huge advantage over synthetic blankets. I’ve used it on chilly nights while camping and as an extra layer in my sleeping bag, and it performed beautifully. At 64" x 88", it’s large enough to wrap up comfortably or use as a ground cloth. The weave is tight and durable, and it looks like it will hold up for years of outdoor abuse. I also love that it’s machine washable — a big plus compared to many pure wool blankets that require special care.I was worried it might be itchy, but after one wash it softened up nicely. It still has that classic wool feel, but it’s very tolerable now. Honestly, for the money, this blanket offers outstanding value. It feels and performs like blankets that cost twice as much. This wool blanket is dense, warm, and holds up well to outdoor elements- so it's a great choice for camping, keeping as a just-in-case blanket for the car, or even in place of a duvet. I've used it both outside and inside, and it really holds up well against the sun, water (when I forget it outside during a storm), and cold/windy days. It doesn't hold smells long, at least as far as I've seen, but I do air it outside a lot. Not the softest wool blanket, but it has softened more after several months of use, and it's a great quality for the price. While I've used it myself in order to fully review it, I actually purchased this for my cats. They absolutely LOVE this wool blanket. As soon as I put it down they're all over it. They use it as a bed, play with it like a toy, and climb across like spider monkeys or do zoomies through it when it's draped over something. I also used it as a crate cover and it works great since it big and heavier than a typical blanket, making it easy to place over the crate without too much sliding. As a crate cover it blocked out pretty much all light (I bought a darker color), so the cats can have a nice dark area for sleeping/hiding. One downside it that is does shed like crazy while being washed (but that's pretty typical of the wool products I've gotten). I first handwashed it with Woolite, and it shed a ton. Then washing machine, and it shed all over the washer (though not as much as the first wash). Shedding isn't nearly as bad after the first few washings. As a warning, it's super heavy when soaking wet. Overall I'm very happy with this product and plan on purchasing another soon! Edit: Still a great product after 1 year of use, no issues with fabric or stitching even with cats clawing all over it. The charcoal black color has only faded a little while being in the sun and outdoor elements pretty much 24/7. The 2nd blanket I got in green shed A LOT less compared to the previous one I bought. I'm thinking the new blanket design sheds less than before, which is great. I also used 2 blankets to help keep a feral cat I trapped and spayed warm during the nights until I released it, to cover both the trap and crate and keep the heat in. Worked fantastic! Going to buy another before the winter cold sets in this year.

I'm very satisfied with this blanket. It's softer than I'd expected, sturdy (so far), and is giving just the right warmth for summertime nights when a sheet alone isn't enough. Some of the earlier reviews noted a strong and unpleasant odor. Mine smelled of "wool blanket." It wasn't too strong for me and it faded considerably in just a few days. I hope the diminished scent sticks around - I like it! Other reviews were critical of the weight (thickness) of the blanket. I'd describe it as not super heavy, yet definitely not, as one review put it, almost as thin as a bedsheet. Notes: Manufacturers change their products from time to time, so what I got is not necessarily what earlier reviewers got or you would get. Also, I have yet to wash this blanket, so I don't have anything to say about how that goes.

This is clearly a well-made product. And I was impressed with the weight of it. Definitely a substantial blanket. The only negatives that I can see are there is a bit of a bad scent to it when I first got it, but it seems to have dissipated now. And it’s a little bit itchy, but I suspect that that would be improved if I washed it. Unfortunately, it says that it should not be put in a washing machine, especially not one with an agitator. But it’s too big for me to try to wash it and dry it in my shower. So I’m not really sure how I’m going to clean it. But it’s made in America and if you need something warm, I would recommend it.

Let’s compare the two blankets that I received to the description: 80% Wool (Seems true - lots of shedding as proof.) HEAVY AND WARM - The Arcturus wool blanket weighs 4.8 lbs, with a density of 600 GSM (that means nice and thick). This blanket will keep you warm, period. (I would not describe it has thick. I have a thick wool blanket for comparison. I describe this as medium thickness. I layer a cotton polyester soft sheet that touches my skin then the wool blanket on top and it’s cozy warm. When camping I recommend using a similar lightweight sleeping bag liner also sold on Amazon or even a genuine silk liner. I purchased wool because when wool is wet, it’s still warm.) GREAT LOOKING, LONG LASTING - Loom-woven and hemmed on all sides with contrast lock stitching, our blanket looks right at home in the field or on your couch, while standing up to rugged use and abuse. (Mostly true. The stitching on all sides looks nice. The blanket is still shedding so I’m unsure how long it will last. I’ve washed it several times with and dried with a gas dryer and the blank is still shedding more than expected. I’m sure there is a secret to stop the shedding. I cannot hand wash the blanket - it’s a bit heavy when wet. My area keeps getting rain so I must use a dryer. I own my own washer and dryer so it’s not a problem. I’m saving the wool link for making crafts. I will try treating the wool with natural lanolin to help soften the fibers. You see, my skin is sensitive. People with tougher skin won’t notice the slight scratches. - The colors and simple design go with any decor. - My primary purpose for purchasing was camping in wet and humid weather, but I’ve been using the blanks indoors on a regular basis. In very cold air near a drafty window, one wool blanket layered with a cotton blend sheet and heated soft throw blanket and was nice and toasty. I could remove layers without any problem returning to sleep. In cool weather, a sheet and blanket was fine. I found wool blankets are breathing just as they do for the animals. Polyester blankets don’t breathe enough or they breathe too much. I don’t sweat under the blankets. I was thinking that I could run a vacuum cleaner brush to remove lint and let the rest of the lint fall away naturally. - I am unsure of the long term durability. - I am pleased with my purchase for the value. The price was fair and quality was good. This is the 4th Arcturus blanket I have purchased. They have other styles, but "Military" is my favorite. I have ordered a number of other "Military" style blankets here on Amazon. I have found them to be thin, usually with a somewhat loose weave. They tend to produce a lot of lint, smell like some sort of petroleum product, and have bits of obvious plastic (or some other large synthetic fiber) woven in. Arcturus is different. They are dense with a tight weave and do not produce lint (I haven't tried washing them yet, but even then, I expect them to hold up well) They do have a mild odor when you first open them, but it disappears quickly. The 20% "other fibers" in the "Military" style are not noticeable. I am very comfortable sleeping with these blankets. One will keep you warm most nights. On really cold nights, I use two and usually have to turn one of them down half way because I get too hot. (your mileage may vary...) These are slightly more expensive to purchase than others advertised on Amazon, but a cheap blanket that is disgusting and does not keep you warm is no bargain. Give these a try. I think you will like them.

First, you can ignore the negative reviews. They are clearly written by people who don't know enough about wool blankets. This blanket did not have a 'chemical' smell. It smelled like every other high quality wool blanket I've ever had. If the smell bothers you, set it outside in the sun for a few hours. (It fades in a few days anyway.) I didn't notice any smell until I put it up against my nose. My wife, who is much more sensitive to odors, did not notice or complain about it. The odor is not unpleasant and its absence would be an indicator of an inferior wool product. DO NOT wash the blanket!! Those who complain about it shedding after they washed it are clueless. A high quality wool blanket should be dry cleaned, not run through a normal washing machine! This blanket is triple washed before shipping, so no washing is needed. If used correctly, it should be between the sheets and a bedspread or comforter, which means it won't need cleaning for years. (That's why beds have sheets, so blankets don't need to be cleaned often.) The weave is tight and it is nicely hemmed. The hem could be a little tighter, but what it has is perfectly acceptable. As long as the blanket is not mistreated (as in machine washed instead of dry cleaned), it should give years of comfort and warmth. I bought the charcoal blanket and love the color. I would definitely buy one again.

Spodziewałem się wysokiej jakości koca, a tutaj kiepsko to wygląda. Materiał wydaje się sztuczny. Miałem już koce z wełny wojskowej (wojsko holenderskie) i był to zupełnie inny materiał.
