Great kindling splitter. It was packaged very well. The blade is very sharp, much sharper than the first kindling splitter we got. It also came with sharping stones, gloves, and a cover. We are much happier with this kindling splitter over the first one we got. I’d recommend this one over the others. The only negative is the top is closed so it limits the size of your piece of wood that you are trying to split into kindling. Whereas some of the kindling splitters are half moons so the size of the wood can be bigger if needed. I would still recommend this one over some of the others out there. I liked all the extras it came with. Many of the others sell the covers separately.

I got this knowing that it was limited in the size of wood that it could be used for in both width and height.Given that knowledge I believe that this is a really decent tool for splitting wood that fits in the opening, which accommodates 7" diameter and 12" long/high. Although I have split wood slightly longer by flipping the wood over and hitting from the other side with just a little fight in prying the piece loose.I also have split some rather hard woods with this and it has held up well and done the job well.I do wish that there was a better way to hold smaller pieces in place but holding the small ones in place and giving a small tap does seem to work well.My only issue with the set is the gloves and the sharpening stone. The gloves are frankly a safety hazard as they not only provide zero grip, they are rather slippery on my axes wood handle. As for the sharpening stone, the plastic handle is flimsy and best to hold it in the middle.However, nether the gloves nor the sharpener was of concern or a factor in my obtaining this splitter. Therefore I am not weighing those with much weight, maybe a .5 subtraction.The mounting screws are light duty and strip easy, you will want to mount this to a base that is suited for heavy pounding so you may want longer stronger screws.The cover is a nicely made cover and good for covering the splitter when out in the weather between use, however I would advise against leaving it out for long. Also, don't forget to oil the exposed metal on the splitter.If you are looking for a light duty splitter than this on is worth the price in my opinion.

Better off with an axe type splitter. Only good for wood with 4 inch smaller diameter than opening. Wouldn't buy it again or recommend, just get an axe.

I really liked the fact I pulled this out of the box and it is ready to use. It looks good and seem to be very durable. It definitely not as large as my other kindling spliter. This one is very stable and so far I haven't had a need to bolt it down and plan on keeping this one in the camper. It's size does limit it to smaller logs but it is perfect for making kindling at camp. Over all great produce and I'm planning on order one for my father, brother and brother in law.

I got this for the specific purpose of making kindling. At that it does a good job! You won't be splitting full size logs with this, especially because the distance from the top ring to the blade is not enough to handle a big log. With this and just a claw hammer I was making kindling super fast! We buy our firewood pre-split, but need little bits to start it. This works great for that, and it's small and portable. When it arrives you would think it's razor sharp (warning stickers, rubber blade guard, etc), but it's really pretty dull out of the box. It comes with a sharpening stone, but I recommend hitting it with an angle grinder for first time use. It comes fully assembled, so it was just a matter of putting an edge on the blade and then go to town. Comes with a cover, work gloves, the stone, and some screws if you want to secure it to a wood deck. It does what I wanted at a good price, so I would definitely recommend. Sharpen the blade and you'll like it too!

nice and simple splitter. simple to use... place log, smack with mallet and poof, its split... so easy to use.
