Jem and the Holograms, Vol. 5: Truly Outrageous

On the back cover of Volume 5 of Jem and the Holograms. "JEM AND THE HOLOGRAMS HEAD TO HAWAII FOR SOME MUCH NEEDED REST AND RELAXATION. BUT WITH THE STINGERS RENTING THE BEACH HOUSE NEXT DOOR THEY INSTEAD GET SHENANIGANS, BETRAYALS, HI-JINX, AND VOLCANOES?! MEANWHILE HAS JERRICA FINALLY MADE A DECISION ABOUT HER FUTURE. AND THE FUTURE OF JEM?" My review of Volume 5 of Jem and the Holograms. I enjoyed this volume as always. I was looking forward to it so much I paid to receive it the same day it was released. I was eager to read about Jerrica's and Rio's relationship because the weird sightings and deception that Rio was noticing all through the previous volumes appeared to be leading to a confrontation. I wasn't disappointed in that regard but the way it happened was different from what I imagined. The Misfits aren't really in this volume except for the Annual 2017 part of this volume. Although the JEM AND THE MISFITS volume coming out next month (August 2017) is alluded to by Jem/Jerrica and the Holograms. The main story volumes which are the issues #24-#26 ended with "THE END...FOR NOW!" which makes me think it will be awhile before any new JEM AND THE HOLOGRAMS volumes come out which is absolutely true if JEM AND THE HOLOGRAMS: INFINITE which is set to release in early 2018 (February, for now) is anything to go by. So far, aside for JEM AND THE MISFITS the February 2018 release is the only volume available for pre-order.

FINALLY, the artwork is back on point. Thank goodness. It was nice to see a better version of the Stingers in comic book form. The Misfits aren't in this as much, though Stormer is featured in this. Some things we really wanted to happen in the 80s finally do! (Spoiler free so keep reading). The story line is gripping and leaves it open for a continuation in the series (which I hope does happen eventually) as there's still so much more to explore! Jem fans will not be disappointed. I know I was loving every minute of this volume and wanted so much more. This definitely makes up for what we went through in Volume 4 with the shoddy artwork and story line.

This volume is Truly Outrageous & I was extremely happy to see the artwork back to the level that these comic's have had. The story & artwork were great! It end with "The End...For Now" making me believe that there are going to be more comic books to come. I sure hope so, because I love this comic book & would really hate to see it come to an end for good. I hope this comic book NEVER ENDS!!!!
