We recommend the use of a microwave for one experiment.

My granddaughter will be away from home when she opens this. Are any 'extras' (that need to be taken with her) needed for this kit.

Think there is the need for maybe a large plastic bottle abd oerhaps some sakt/ sugar bits of bread to prrfirm experiments. We bought it a while ago so memory is a bit dim ! Sorry Perhaps not of much help

Yes, my came in an original packaging( box as seen in pictures). The bits inside were packed nicely in plastic bags. I am very happy with the set( especially the stethoscope is great fun for the kids). Hope it helps.
