The Rock House Method - Metal Guitar: Intermediate [DVD]

Die DVD ist zu einem gewissen Grad lehrreich, jedoch mit begrenzten Lehrmaterialien.Es liegt zwar ein Booklet im Tab-Format bei, in der verschiedene Skalen aber auch Teile aus den Liedern seines ersten Soloalbums notiert sind, jedoch wars das auch schon. Ein bisschen größer als CD-Format und vielleicht 20 Seiten, von der die Hälfte egal wäre, da man sich verschiedene Skalen auch im Internet anschauen kann. Nur die Tabs seiner Lieder oder seiner eigenen Übungen sind interessant.Auf der anderen Seite ist die DVD auch sehr unterhaltsam! Man kann sie auch einlegen und einfach nur zuschauen, wie der Typ (vom anderen Stern) die Melodien und Riffs auf der Gitarre in einer unmenschlichen Geschwindigkeit und Präzision herunterreißt.Nach Szenen in denen er Teile Langsam vorspielt um sie zu zeigen und dabei erklärt, gibt es auch wieder Ausschnitte in denen er einfach seine Lieder vorspielt spielt und man ihm dabei zuschauen kann.Auch wenn ich mir mehr "Lehre" und weniger Unterhaltung gewünscht habe, finde ich die DVD gut, da ich sehr an Marc Rizzo als Metal-/Jazz-/Flamencogitarrist interessiert bin.

I tutor in guitar so I buy just about everything that comes out to see if someone has a new way to explain a task. Marc Rizzo is a competent intermediate guitarist himself based on this video, not capable of instruction.Beware of this video. In most instances he explains nothing and just says watch my hands, which is often ok if unhelpful. But when explaining scales it is not acceptible to fluff 3 notes in a video. Record it again. The fact that he can produce a pinch harmonic, but doesn't know how he did it (and tries to explain anyway) is scary. Of about 40 videos I own, this is the worst I've seen so far.Get Doug Marks Metal Method.

This is a good video for beginner guitarists. It also has some (what the title describes) "intermediate" techniques such as sweep picking, legato, tapping, and pinch harmonics. However, the actual instruction for these techniques is limited and you really have to watch Mark play every part several times before really understanding what he briefly explains. Other than that it definitely helped me learn a few new tricks. I like this video.
