Really enjoyed it, likable protagonists, I recommend it!
I really enjoyed this series! I have been devouring fantasy series lately (Dark Tower by Steven King, A Song of Ice & Fire by George RR Martin, The Cult of Yex by C Parker Garlitz & Jason Smith, and just starting the Farseer Trilogy by Robin Hobb.) Basically I finished Dark Tower series about a year ago with my mind absolutely blown thinking nothing could ever suck me in like that did, but then I started ASOIAF and was once again completely immersed. When I got to the end I was so devastated that the next book wasn't out yet, so I got on Google and searched "what the heck should I read while I wait for the next ASOIAF book??" That's where I came across the Night Angel and Fareseer Trilogies.PROs:The story moved pretty quickly, there were some great fight scenes, some really neat and likeable characters, and some pretty well-developed antagonists. I can see this series making the silver screen - if they tone down the graphic violence a bit (hard to do with a story about assassins) I can see it having really broad mass appeal.CONs:At times I felt the story moved a little too quickly and Brent could have dug a little deeper into the character development. Also, and perhaps I was tainted by just having read Dark Tower and ASOIAF, but (SPOILER ALERT) there was a bit too much of the good guys winning, and even when you think they lose, they end up winning anyway. So that part I thought became a bit too predictable as the story unfolded, but like I said, Dark Tower and ASOIAF take that concept to the absolute other extreme, so maybe I was not in a normal state of mind to accurately judge that! =)Regardless of that, I did really enjoy the series and would recommend it. Although I do regret buying the combo book (I thought I was getting 3 individual books) because it was inconvenient to lug around - so go with the individuals =)

Epic and Enjoyable
There is something about Durzo Blint that is immensely appealing. Other characters came and went. The main character, Kylar Stern, alternated between cold-blooded killer, immature teen, and weepy pacifist. Yet Durzo was always Durzo, a cold-blood assassin (excuse me, *wetboy*) that was better than anyone in the art of killing. That he has a secret past is no surprise, but when the surprise is revealed in book two, it feels both insane and incredibly amusing. The first book in the series starts off dark. There's child molestation, murder, and an overall feeling of despair and surrender to everything evil inside men's hearts. While some might not be prepared for how far the author goes, the setting is necessary for Kylar's development, as well at he redemptive themes that become far more prevalent in books two and three.Despite Kylar's random mood swings, he was an overall enjoyable main character. Like Durzo, he is a killer at the top of his game. The special powers he inherits halfway through the first book are both over the top and yet consistently controlled. It may feel like the author is cheating, but at the same time, I know he's not. Don't read The Night Angel Trilogy expecting anything mundane. Mr. Weeks wants to kill gods, destroy cities, and have his characters play with artifacts older than entire civilizations. It gets a little overwhelming having ten different world-destroying creatures, weapons, and artifacts all being swapped, stolen, and revealed, but by the third book things calm down and start making sense.Speaking of making sense, Mr. Weeks is not the best at introducing characters you don't know. There are plenty of times I'd be reading, start a new chapter, and then wonder if I had skipped a part somewhere along the line. Random people in random locations get thrown out often. Have faith in the author, though; they'll come around in time, and make perfect sense. Mr. Weeks might not be subtle, but he's effective at not messing around.Would I read more by Mr. Weeks? Most certainly. Other than a few odds and ends, this was a series after my own heart. And all because of Durzo. He's the star of the show whenever he makes his entrance, and by the end, you might find yourself wishing for another book dedicated solely to him.

Wow! Is all I can say about this Trilogy.
Okay this book is crazy intense! Nothing U think will happen does. I mean Nothing. I have had to put this book down so many times cuz it's so gruesome in areas that I either had gotten light headed and broken out into a cold sweat or I had almost thrown up! This book evokes every emotion a person could possibly have and then some. It's like non stop suspense, then action, then warm fuzzy heartfelt feelings, then anger, then sadness etc.. Then the cycle starts all over again. And like I said everything u think will happen doesn't. I've only guessed 1 or 2 things correctly out of all 3 books. This book makes u insane! As soon as u put it down u have to pick it back up.. And did I mention Kylar? Dude is off the chain.. ***VIEW SPOILER** I'm gonna have to rape him! LOL***I have seen alot of good reviews for this trilogy. That is what caused me to read it. Even though it does feel more like, reagarding it's popularity, in comparison with a good film that hardly gets any play, unless u see it under the sundance film festival or something.. It could definitely use more mainstream love that's for sure.. It's a deep deep story.. This is riddled with LOTS of magic, violence, redemption. Evil to it's very core. Major and I mean major sacrifice.. Beliefs, spirituality. It can be very sexual & sensual but also at times just flat out degrading. But not where the story suffers. These degrading scenes are essential to the character or scene that is occuring @ the time.Underneath the many layers of all 3 books, it boils down to these 4 questions.. Who are you? What do you stand for? What's your purpose? And when those answers are not in harmony with what you want, will you have the heart to fulfill ur purpose anyway? This Trilogy is beyond deep.. I highly recommend u read it. The 3 books in one is worth it.

Triologia para quem gosta de uma boa fantasia.
Só a um ponto negativo: a entrega!A história é maravilhosa.

Some of the best most original fantasy out there.
I'm a huge fantasy junky but I get tired of the same old thing. But I decided to pick up The Way of the Shadows when I was in a local book shop and loved the front cover cause I thought the character kinda looked like Altair from the Assassin's Creed video game by Ubisoft. What I got was a book that was nothing like Assassin's Creed nor any of the other High Fantasy cliche's that permeate the market. The Night Angel Trilogy is some of the best storytelling to be had out there. I recommend it to everyone who will listen to me that even has a slight interest in fantasy. Although to be fair I wouldn't really call this traditional fantasy. It is a dark but inspirational tale that makes you want to believe in yourself. I honestly don't think I've ever come across such engaging, emotionally involving characters. It may just be me to be fair but I don't think so. To see the high's in life we also have to know the low's and this book shows us both.Yes there is swearing, and there are parts of the book that might make you cringe at the horrors of what the characters that you love are exposed to. But these are all things that happen in the real world and the story is richer for it.I don't want to oversell this book but I also don't think I've done it justice. It's simply one of my favourite books/trilogies of all time. But don't believe me. Here are the links to other websites with more reviews so you can get an idea of how good these books truly are.Amazon.com (37 reviews when I post this)http://www.amazon.com/Night-Angel-The-Complete-Trilogy/dp/0316201286/ref=sr_1_3?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1341263245&sr=1-3&keywords=night+angel+trilogyGood Reads (2154 ratings and 142 reviews when I posted this)[...]Simply put this is a great ADULT read that I would recommend to anyone who's opinion I valued.

Fabulous
I bought this trilogy in my ongoing search for new fantasy authors to read. It was a fabulous read from start to finish. This book involved many complex characters such as the "Wetboy" (an assassin with magic skills) Durzo Blint, the child Azoth/Kylar who escapes the gutter by apprenticing himself to Durzo, his friends Jarl and Doll-Face, and wetboy in training Vi. These are only a few of the awesome characters in the book. This book's main characters include kings, lords, simple servants, magicians and criminals and seamlessly integrate their stories into a beautiful tapestry!Pros:Complex characters with good character developmentGood world building with fascinating history (and lots of room to revisit with additional stories although perhaps not with Azoth as the main character as there isn't much room for additional growth)Fast-paced, action filled plotVivid writingAwesome magical objects and systemCons:I can't think of anything... maybe that it ended? I miss this world and the characters already!Caveat: This book contains dark themes such as child molestation & prostitution, mutilation, etc. If this type of thing disturbs you, you may want to avoid this novel (though you would be missing out). Its not really a focus though (in my opinion) so much as a fact.Sadly, I took this on vacation and had to leave it behind when I was over my weight limit on the way back. Otherwise, I would have loved to read it a second time.

Maybe I'm an honest villain
