Great value for the price!
These chairs are amazing! Yes it's a little intimidating because they are completely unassembled. However, if you can run a screw gun you will be just fine. These chairs are well built, the instructions are straightforward and every component listed on the materials list was included. I bought four of these chairs, assembled them myself in a day and then finished them. They are so very comfortable and I am looking forward to many years of use. I like them so much I just ordered four more. Thank you bear chair company!

Comfortable, solid and substantial. Well worth the money
I'm very pleased with the quality and comfort of the two Bear Chair Adirondack chairs we purchased. As others have mentioned, the individual wood pieces benefit from sanding although you could just assemble the parts and use the chairs as-is. It's not as though they are rough or have splinters. However, a freshly sanded surface will help them take paint or stain more consistently. In our case, I sanded and stained the individual parts, then assembled them with wood glue and the provided screws. The chairs look great and are solid and substantial. They are also of good size, unlike some of the undersized lower-cost chairs on offer. In reading the reviews of other wood Adirondack chairs that require assembly (including those of Chinese wood origin at about half the price of these) it seemed clear that the quality of the wood was the make-or-break issue with respect to strength, stability and longevity. Given the finished product of the Bear Chairs kit, I'd say you get what you pay for and more with these. If I'm going to invest the time to sand, stain and assemble a couple of chairs, I want to start with quality wood that's accurately cut and pre-drilled and that goes together perfectly. I think you'll actually save money and time by spending what it costs for these chairs instead of the lowest-cost chairs.

Not as Comfortable
Have this brand from before and found it to be much more comfortable. It says if they’ve made it easier to manufacture, and therefore lost some of the curves that helped to make the chair more comfortable. It is also missing the brass plate with the company name attached to the front. It is a solid chair. We used it to make a chair with skis in the back.

Awesome chairs!
I bought these chairs for my patio. The came before the estimated time of arrival and they were well packaged. I primed them and painted them red. Time will only tell how long they will and outdoors, but I am confident that with some care, they will last for many years. They are really beautiful and just as described in the site. They are super strong and comfortable and assembly is really easy. I put them together in less than an hour. The company is great at keeping in touch with you and making sure that you are happy with the product. I would buy from them again. I strongly recommend them.

Excellent quality. Everything fit together as it should and ...
Excellent quality. Everything fit together as it should and it had great directions. Bear in mind that each piece does require sanding before finishing. That is the only reason i didnt give five stars. I am very pleased with this product. I purchased four. They are very sturdy and comfortable. Dont hesitate if you are in the market for some of these as long as you go into it knowing that it is a bit of a project.

Great Adirondack Chairs Kit(s)
If you have a little bit of a handyperson in your soul, have a knack for assembling IKEA furniture and want to save a ton of money on Adirondack chairs then these chair kits are for you! The provided diagrammatic instructions are straight forward and I would recommend looking them over before starting the assembly of the chair(s). I bought two chairs; taking approximately 45 minutes to assemble the first chair and 15 minutes to assemble the second chair. There are quite a few wood pieces and metal screws in the kit, but don't let that frighten you. It is worth the effort and most certainly the money you save on doing the assembly job yourself. The ability to choose the color of my chair completely swayed my decision; I got to choose the exact blue shade that I wanted. I spray painted and polyurethane coated the chairs myself and estimate that I saved $150 to $200 per chair by not buying a pre-assembled, pre-painted chair. The entire process from assembly to final painted product took around 3 days.

Great chairs!
The reviews about this chair are spot on. Bears Chairs are sturdy & comfortable. Plenty of room on the armrest for a cuppa and a book. The slats for your back and rear end are attached in a curved arrangement for maximum comfort. Also the 'waterfall' slats behind your knees ensure there are no sharp edges digging into your legs when seated. I helped with the sanding; my husband is having fun with assembly, and next steps will be to stain and seal the chairs. The chair is made from lovely Canadian white pine, certified as responsibly sourced. The company is a family-owned Toronto business, and the Amazon distributor is a pool supply business in Michigan. We ordered two chairs-- both kits were shipped quickly and safely in one box, with all wood parts and screws & instructions included. As sturdy as these chairs are, they weigh substantially less than equivalent plastic/HDPE chairs. This is an advantage for us, as we will move the chairs around to different spots on our property for sun basking in winter and spring. Yes, it's a bit of a project to get these chairs ready for use, but that's part of the fun. They are much nicer than any pre-made chairs we've seen.

Comfortable and Sturdy
I ordered 4 of these for my balcony, and they are great. They do need to be fully assembled which takes some organization and patience (and a drill) and sanded a bit, but otherwise once they are together they are really nice chairs. Nice round shaped back piece and comfy seat. Just a bit of advice... paint them before you assemble them. I didn't do that with the first one and that was a mistake, it's too hard to get in between the back pieces if you assemble it first. I used a solid color wood stain and they look fantastic. If you are looking for this type of chair that isn't $200+, I highly recommend these.
