Fine quality and reasonable price
I did not rate Sound Quality or Light Weight because I don't have the experience to make those ratings.I bought this stethoscope to accompany the Greater Goods sphygmomanometer, since I had neither of these and wanted an alternative to the automated blood-pressure monitoring device I already had. Sometimes I feel that the automated blood-pressure monitor provides inconsistent results. I wanted a stethoscope having both a diaphragm and a "bell" for monitoring sound, based on what I've read, certainly not on experience. This Greater Goods stethoscope is very well made, and the pickup tube from the stethoscope head has two positions; one position allows you to listen using the bell, the other using the diaphragm. The sound quality seems good to my untrained ear, and I am easily able to hear the pulse sound when using the blood-pressure cuff. However being able to hear the sound is not the same as being able to properly interpret what it means, so expect to spend some time learning. My only complaints are perhaps typical of all stethoscopes. One is that the tubes to the ears press inward too tightly to suit me, although the soft ear pieces are comfortable. However they certainly do an effective job of blocking outside noise. The other is that any clothing or other item rubbing on the rubber pipe that connects the stethoscope head with the ear pieces produces significant noise.

Well made and built to last
Upfront, I received this asking for a review. However I've purchased a few from items fro Greater Goods and have yet to be disappointed. I wanted this to use to check my own blood pressure. I work for a hospital in the IT department and my clinical skills are from observation only. I think this stethoscope is great but I took it to an associate who is also a nurse and, by his definition, a stethoscope snob. He was impressed from the start stating it was very similar to one he had from another well known manufacturer. The quality was really good and liked that is was single tube instead of double (lighter and less audio interference), it had a good mechanism to turn the chest piece on the stem, the ear pieces were secure and pointed correctly, came with extra ear pieces and diaphragm and that it performed auscultation very well. It should last for years.

Be sure to read directions before using!
Bought this for personal home BP monitoring and initially thought it was poor quality. Not so! It’s rather good. You need to read the directions! The diaphragm and bell piece turn on and off. There’s a little blue dot and the blue dot side is facing with the Greater Goods insignia side of the flat end of you where lay listening piece of the scope on the arm then it’s on. I was about ready to send it back! But no, it works! Great for the price!

Great price, excellent product
Confession: I know nothing about medicine or nursing...but I've recently developed some health issues that have thrown me into a world of research and questions. I bought this stethoscope mainly out of curiosity, but I was seriously impressed with the quality for $30! Again, don't know much about it, but I CAN tell you that it came elegantly packaged, and the sound quality is far better than I expected. With a little concentration and being careful to remain still, I can easily hear my heart and the burbly sounds of digestion in the gut. (Breathing seems harder to distinguish on myself, but probably would work with another patient). Fascinating. For this price, I'd say this is an excellent purchase for...everyone. :)

Great gift for a nursing student.
My best friend's daughter is in nursing school, and starting to do her practice rounds. I thought that this would be an awesome gift for her. She loved how well made it felt, and that it didn't feel too heavy but felt "solid and well made". The extra ear pieces are a welcome addition as it is the extra membrane. She does rounds with kids at times and she said that if they are constantly touching it so in case a kiddo would break it, she wouldn't have to worry about a replacement. She watched the video and although we agreed great if you have ever been to the doctor you know how to use it, we thought it was concise and very helpful. Overall she was really happy with it!

Quality and appearance exceed price, however, too heavy on the neck.
Product arrived in excellent condition. It comes with spare diaphragm and ear piece. Has a high quality appearance. It's ability to pick up heart sound is the same as the my old Littmann stethoscope, not any better. The reason why I bought this stethoscope was because I wanted a one with both the diaphragm and bell; however, the professor just disclosed to us today that I can actually double the stethoscope diaphragm as a bell as well; you push the diaphragm harder, it's diaphragm; lighter, it's bell.Nonetheless, I wanted one that has both the bell and the diaphragm, I decided not to keep this stethoscope despite it's attractive appeal was because that it's too...too... heavy. I wanted something light on the neck, I have to shop around. For the price you pay, I have to say, this is a decent stethoscope to own.
