great day pack
was looking for a daypack for an upcoming trip and this did not disappoint. It's a good medium sized bag a day or two. It's also a good school backpack. It's a good price and you get more than what you pay for.

A fine daypack from a known and reliable brand
I have owned several products from High Sierra over the years. I don't consider the brand to be top tier, but I have always felt I that it offers good value for the price. This pack is not as large as a true backpack, but it is suitable for day hikes and travel. The olive green color is not too "military" looking, and has a reflective sheen to it. The straps are well-padded, though they may not be adjustable enough for a tall person. On the outside there are two water bottle pockets. With such a configuration I usually carry just one bottle and use the second pocket for other gear, such as a compact umbrella. There is also one vertical zippered pocket on the front, adequate for a book or travel documents. There is also a zipper pocket at the top rear of the bag and it's tiny. It is felt-lined and might be a place for a phone or sunglasses, though I wouldn't put mine there. They call it a "stealth pocket" but it's hardly hidden even when wearing the pack. The remaining two zippers on the front of the pack open to inside pockets. The outer pocket has several inner pockets for small items like notebooks, pens and a phone charger. The larger zipper pocket is more open, with only a sleeve that should fit a tablet or a small laptop, maybe 13" or so. It can hold a lot as the bottom of the pocket expands. This might be useful for a change of clothes. One bonus feature is the grab handle in the front of the pack. This can come in handy when removing the pack from an overhead bin or a train rack.I have seen several daypacks with similar features for less money on Amazon. Some of them claim to be waterproof. In fact, the Amazon product site describes this pack as water repellent. However, the tags that High Sierra thoughtfully attaches to the pack makes no mention of water repellency. I would guess the fabric can hold up under light drizzle or rain, but if you plan to use it during a heavy or continuous rain, then I would get a cover for it. I trust the High Sierra brand and easily recommend this daypack for daily use or light travel.

Great sized backpack
The media could not be loaded. Been looking for a backpack to carry to and from office that’s not too big but can hold my oversized water bottle. Finally found one and no mesh pockets to bust. Only thing I wish it had was more grippy straps so when wearing a jacket it doesn’t want to slide off. Other than that it’s perfect for my needs.

Midsize backpack great for day hikes
Love, love, LOVE this midsize backpack from High Sierra! It is the perfect size and light weight for day hikes and has 2 ample deep pockets on the sides for carrying water bottles, which is a must have. These pockets have no problem holding regular sized sports bottles (~750 ml). The pulls on the zippers are easy to grab and use seamlessly. I especially like the fresh maroon and mint trim colors and the reflective materials on all sides in case you have to hike along a road at night. The adjustable straps are breathable to keep your back cool. It does not have a luggage handle strap which is the only thing I'd change. Now for the interior compartments. There is a rather flat, zippered compartment on the front to hold maps, travel documents or parking receipts. At the top of the bag, under the sturdy carry handle, is a small zippered compartment that is not easily accessible unless you take the backpack off. I'd use it for valuables. It isn't big enough to hold an iPhone though but you could tuck away something small there if you feel you are in an area where pickpockets are prevalent that might slit the bottom of your bag to get the contents. Perhaps a small size charger bank as an option too? The smaller interior main bag compartment is nicely laid out for organizing a wallet/credit cards/passport, 2 writing pen holders, key clasp so that you don't have to fumble to the bottom of the pack to find your keys when ready to drive, and space for some snacks. The larger main section holds my HP Envy laptop easily in the padded back portion; the larger area within can hold my DSLR camera, and a change of clothes. I will like using this bag when traveling as it is multipurpose. I can use it as a carry on to fit underneath the seat and then use it for day hiking and shopping! I expect that this bag will be durable based on my experience with other backpacks from High Sierra. I will likely buy additional ones for my niece and nephew for our hiking trip this summer.

Sharp looking EDC backpack
I liked the style of this backpack which is what initially caught my attention but it actually turned out to be quite a bit better than I was expecting. The olive green with hexagonal micro-texture and black zippers and hardware is a really nice color combination and really sharp looking. All of the zippers are smooth despite being unbranded, although I do wish they’d have used two sets of zippers for the main and secondary compartments but they work well enough. The main compartment is spacious and has an elastic sleeve for a laptop or tablet. The placement of the sleeve opening is set a little too high which can make getting a laptop in or out a little more difficult than it should be, but the rear of the pack has ample padding both protecting the laptop and making it more comfortable to wear. The secondary compartment has a nice organizational area for pens, cords and a charger along with a lanyard and was nice to see rather than just an empty space to stuff things and the exterior zippered slip pocket is useful for storing my phone or another power bank. The straps are well designed with one large omission: a sternum strap. Depending on how well the pack fits your frame and how much you’re carrying it may or may not be an issue but I always like having the option. With that said, I found the backpack to be comfortable to wear and it’s been working out well as a daypack for both carrying my laptop as well as short nature walks to take pictures. Considering I’ve used packs that cost twice as much with fewer organizational features I think it’s a solid value as a general purpose backpack.
