Boil the Jute Scrub to get rid of chemical smell
Both are EXCELLENT quality! The Cotton knitted cloth is tightly knitted and thick, absorbent, wring out when using, leaves no streaks on countertop, and perfect for wiping my stainless steal appliances. When you wash, naturally cotton shrinks, making it the perfect size for a dish cloth and as you wash them they get flexible. The jute scrub is a scrubber and it is not meant to absorb water. It is an EXCELLENT SCRUB, thick and will last for a really long time. The con is that it smells horribly of chemicals but there is a fix to get rid of that smell YOU MUST BOIL IT. To be exact I boiled the jute scrub 5 times and each time changing out the water for fresh water. On the 3rd, 4th, and 5th boil I added vinegar and baking soda to the pot of water, then placed on stove to boil for 30 minutes or more each time and let it sit. When you add the vinegar and baking soda to the fresh water, it is important to add before you boil and off the stove because this mixture bubbles up and spills over. It only does this for a minute. After the mixture stops bubbling, place the pot on the stove to boil. This really works. After the 5th boil it did smell a little and after using it for a couple of days the smell is completely gone. I highly recommend both as they are meant to last and are of excellent quality and most importantly, they are not made of synthetic material.

Great for stainless
My set went missing after a spouse laundry week. So I've been using dishcloths, which I find "meh" at best -- stinky, damp, thin, kind of useless and prone to splashing water everywhere. Turns out my toockies ended up in the potholder pile. So glad I found them! They're perfect scrubbers, the best I've found to use with Bon Ami. Great for stainless steel pans and teacups -- dishcloths are too thin and smooth to be effective. And the toockies don't get cakey and useless when I wipe up flour or scrub out a baking bowl.I used the darker one on a big carbon steel pan that had rust spots today, with kosher salt. Very effective, protected my hands, and it rinsed clean with zero smell after. Not saying you could use this to take off 50 years of seasoning or anything, but for a minor to medium job it worked great.I don't use them to wipe up spills or anything, though they are reasonably absorbent. Less than a sponge but more than adequate for scrubbing with lots of water, soaking up the excess, then wringing it out into a bucket. Like basic fridge/oven/stovetop procedure. Wouldn't try to wipe up anything a dish towel would be more suitable for. Here looking for more of the white ones in case mine go missing again.

Not great in years shower
I have a hand crocheted washcloth I use in the shower that is awesome but not a natural fabric. I bought these because they were cotton. They are good, but don't create foamy suds in the shower. They don't really suds at all w my soap so I stopped using them.

First thoughts
I've got huge hands. These are perfect size, maybe even a little big for dish scrubbers. Not sure why a reviewer said they were too small, maybe they thought they were buying dish towels? There's a cotton based scrubber and a jute one. The jute is your scrubber for tough jobs; cotton for the items that scratch easily. The chemical odor is from the jute. Jute is twine is typically made with petroleum products to soften them. Boil it in water for a few minutes and rinse thoroughly. Smell will fadeI'm really glad to be minimizing my micro plastic exposure. Tried a loofah plant type sponge, lasted 3 days. Tried a regular cotton knit dish cloth, couldn't decently scrub with it. These? Great combo and initially very impressed

Love these
I love these for dishes. Have used them for years. They are natural, clean and clean up well, and seem to last about 4 months each (household of 4 and we do all dishes by hand). Highly recommend.

Didn't Dig These At All
I try to buy organic in all things so thought I'd try these. Don't know about the cotton/jute mix but for me it was the pits. I tried to use one as a dish cloth, and the feel and texture was something I don't know how to describe but ultimately ineffective in washing anything. It doesn't absorb moisture but gets some kind of gooey, sticky film or something on it's surface that isn't conducive to washing anything, wiping anything up, it's just weird and useless. I actually just threw it away, just couldn't find anything it could be used for. Sounds all green and groovy when you read the description, but really just of no use. Of course I might have been able to use it as a trivet or something...oh well.Anyway, couldn't recommend this.

Tookies, for a good cause and a cleaner world
These Tookies are wonderful for so many things. I like the story behind them. They are made by hand by abused and disadvantaged woman around the world as a source of income to be able to support their families. The rough Tookies are great for general scrubbing and the softer Tookies are great for the bath or the kitchen.
