Works great so far
One thing people should know is that it detects the presence of water by running the pump. If there is no load on the pump, it decides there no water and turns off. It turns on about once every 2.5 minutes for about 1 second. This probably doesn't apply to any of you, but I installed this in an antique 1956 Lyman Islander wooden boat. It has a 6 volt positive ground electrical system. Therefore, I had to mount a separate 12v battery. I chose a 6 Amp-Hour Lithium battery pack. It pumped a good amount of water as a wooden boat leaks a lot when you first launch. I also ran my fish finder/depth sounder off it.In three weeks, the battery has not been drained. So power use doesn't seem to be a problem.Sorry the pic doesn't actually show the pump, but it does show the little battery I'm using to power it.It has a wire for controlling it manually. I put a momentary switch it for forcing it to run. This is a great feature. The automatic works so well I have never needed it, but I can use it to check the battery voltage because I added a volt meter to the circuit to check to see if the battery needs charging. All in all - great pump. Easy to clean, quiet, pumps lots of water.

Works great!
Works great, tested it after installation by putting a garden hose in the bilge and dumping in probably 3-4 gallons, several different times. The Auto mode sensed the presence of the water and pumped it all out and then shut itself off. Exactly the behavior I want! I needed to run a third line to my boat's dash since the previous pump was only on/off and not auto/on/off but it was worth the hour of time and the cost of a 2-pole marine switch. Now when I launch to go fishing, I can just put the bilge in Auto and forget about it.

Great pump when it works.
Great product. Pump turns on for a second every 2.5 minutes, detects if it moved any water and continues till bilge is dry, then repeats the process. like any bilge pump, the challenge is to keep it from corroding. These units typically don't survive the warranty period so keep your receipt. Problem is the shaft seal eventually allows vapor into the electronics' area and the circuit fails. I keep a spare pump. The bilge is kept down nicely, so how water vapor gets in is a mystery. I've cut the unit apart and the copper corrosion is apparent. Unit is al but bullet proof. An expensive solution is to cut apart a new unit, pull the motor out and connect the motor wire and ground from the failed unit to the new unit you have cut and mounted in a dry area. You will be connecting the new unit's always on wire and the intermittent wire to the motor wire from the failed unit. Eventually that motor will fail, but there may be a way to connect one of the spare motors

Auto Fail
Worked great for six months then the automatic feature totally failed.Junk, do not buy if you like your boat. Luckily I got to my boat in time to find 4 inches of water above the floor boards ans was able to hold the switch on manual and get the water out. Have checked for restrictions and found none, Did notice the impeller come on in auto mode but it turned very slow for about two seconds and shut off, when it worked they would spool up to full speed before shutting down. I think they are junk.

Great customer service
The flow seemed very low since installed new. I finally got around to checking it and it was 15.5seconds to fill a 1 gallon water jug. That means it’s only doing approximately 4 gallons per minute and 240 gallons per hour. Not even close to 500gph. Voltage is good, strainer is clean and clear. I pulled the pump out of the hull and put it in a clean tub of water for testing. This is a very important product and fairly pricey to be failing so soon! Hopefully the seller will reach out and do something about this.UPDATE 3/13/23 xylem Is sending a replacement pump.

Great idea in concept but poor quality
I love the idea behind this bilge pump. I run these in stand up jet skis and the fact that I don't have to run an on/off switch up the handle pole to the bars is a huge advantage. I wire a switch in the engine compartment, turn it on before we start our ride in the morning and turn it off at the end of the day. Amp draw is minimal and the water sensing gives me piece of mind that I don't have to turn it on to pump out water. That's the GOOD. For the BAD, I've purchased six of these bilges (I have three stand ups) and have experienced three failures after one year of use. There not cheap so replacement is frustrating.
