Publisher:Snake Trap Details:Snake Trap is a professional-grade snake capture and removal device. It was designed by a professional in the state of Florida and has been field tested and refined over five years of snake trapping and removal. Snake Trap works indoors and out, is safe to use around pets, and allows for safe relocation of unwanted snakes. Our secret lies in the trap design and in the Snake-Attract-Dots TM. This trap is designed to lure in nearby snakes. They are drawn in by the scent on the dots as well as the internal design features that mimic the natural denning areas that snakes prefer. Once they enter, they are trapped and incapacitated by the special biosafe adhesive inside the trap. The snake is alive and safe, but rendered immobile. The scent in the traps is not strong enough to lure in snakes from long distances, but will encourage any snakes that are using your property (or house) as habitat to enter. For humane usage, we encourage release of any snakes caught, by spraying or pouring cooking oil on the snake. Indoor usage is great, but we recommend limited outdoor usage, as the glue pad can catch rodents, lizards or birds. These animals can all be released with cooking oil. Will you catch a snake? If one is stuck inside your house, basement, porch, then yes. Most snakes spotted outdoors are transient and unlikely to come into contact with you or pets again. The trap works well outdoors, but if you do not catch the snake within a few days, it has moved on. Bring the empty trap inside. We can not guarantee our trap will catch your snake as wild animals are unpredictable. Although this trap is the best snake trap on the market we do not think a snake trap is the best course of action. You should educate yourself about snakes, the one you saw was likely harmless and good to have around. The safest method is to hire a wildlife removal pro to remove any snakes in the home or property and modify any property features that attract snakes, such as filling in gaps under rocks. Worked as Described, but a word of caution
I had a snake living in a drainage pipe behind my garage. My wife wanted me to get rid of it, but I wanted to keep it alive. This trap works as described. I set it outside the drainage pipe and caught the snake the first day.Unfortunately, the snake got caught on a sunny day and ended up being stuck out in the sun for too long and died. So if at all possible, I would try to avoid a situation where the snake would be caught out in the sun.

Way overpriced for what you get and pretty hard to judge results.
As stated in the title, this is a pretty expensive piece of plasticized cardboard with some glue in it. It was advertised as such so I really have no qualms with that. The problem is with getting any results. I had snakes in and around my decorative ponds. I placed this product in several locations and caught nothing but a baby wren....and extricating the wren was not humane. I doubt he made it after that experience. It could be that the pond snakes (non-poisonous) were not attracted to the mouse scent but I do know that the snakes would get out of the ponds and were near this trap. Overall, my concern with getting rid of the snakes had nothing to do with "humane". I just wanted them gone because they were scaring my little nieces and nephews. At the risk of irritating the overtly concerned for the humane treatment of snakes, my solution was to shoot the snakes with a bb pistol. I recommend the Colt Defender BB pistol. It's accurate and safe. As to the humane concern, the bb really stuns the snake unless you get a really lucky shot. In it's stunned state you could transport it elsewhere if you so choose. This would be easier than trying to get the serpent unstuck from this trap and cleaned of glue residue as they suggest. Kind of gives me the willies thinking about trying that.

Thankful for this product!
I am so happy to be able to put this in my basement and catch these horrible intruders. I am terrified of snakes and found a skin on my shelves where I keep all my laundry stuff. I couldn't avoid going into my basement so I purchased one of these traps. It did take time but I got a medium small snake within about 6-8 weeks. I re-ordered another trap because I figured there would be more... Months went by but this morning I found a sizable black snake stuck 1/2 in the trap. He was so big that the trap moved a ways from where I placed it. YIKES! I will be ordering more for sure. Now I know if they come in, I can catch them.

Humane Snake Trap
It caught a lot of mice and bugs but no snakes. No different than a regular sticky trap. I am not sure if I would buy this or just use a glue trap in the future.

These traps WORK
I bought two of these, and I just ordered two more. I have caught 2 copperheads so far. It wasn't immediate. The first one was about 10 days after I put them out and I had all but given up and decided to check the traps. Boom. There he was. This morning I found another snake in a trap and he was bigger so I'm glad I put them back out. The only complaint I have is that there needs to be an option to buy replacement glue traps. You are supposed to be able to wash off the oil after you get the snakes off the glue but I didn't want to take any chances of the next one being able to wiggle free while I was retrieving the trap so my exterminator put a few glue boards in the trap. These traps work if you give them time. I will keep them out and I am reasonably sure I will catch more snakes.

Not a big fan of this trap
Couldnt smell the bait that some people said. It is a cheaply made device so agree with comments to just buy a glue mat, which essentially all this is. In any case, it didn't attract or catch the snake. Finally a week later I found the snake dead by the outside door. Probably died of starvation or thirst but wasnt attracted to the trap, which could have saved its life.

Did Exactly What I Needed It To - Five Stars
I live in Paradise Valley, AZ and had a Red Racer living in my house. I was trying to sell the house and couldn't catch the snake so I decided to try this trap since I'd had no luck otherwise. I received it in 2-days, USPS Priority Mail, and placed it in the bedroom where I'd seen the snake. I thought to myself that it wasn't particularly well made or anything special but then again it was about $30 so what did I expect. Well, just about 24-hours later I looked in and there was the snake sitting coiled up on top of the sticky surface. No, it's not some special high tech trap but it worked perfectly and I was able to release the snake, alive, and get on with my house sale. It was $30 very well spent and it gets my highest reccommendation for doing exactly what I needed. It's sitting out in my tool shop on the shelf just in case I have another unwelcome house guest. If you've got a snake and need to get rid of it, I highly recommend this solution.

Inhumane small animal trap. Traumatic to any person who cares about their wildlife!
Purchased this for a snake problem I was having at my mother's house. Followed instructions perfectly for placing outside and checked on it a couple days later. To my horror, there were two baby birds that had been trapped by the glue strip inside this thing. They were still struggling to get free but had obviously been in there a while because they didn't have much energy left. Their little feet, feathers and wings were completely stuck to the glue strip (one bird's wing had broken during the course of trying to free himself). The neighbor and I tried very patiently and carefully for over an hour to free the birds, but between the broken wing and their tiny size, they just couldn't make it. They both died within a couple hours of being "unstuck."This company needs to have better controls so that only snakes can access the glue strip. Would be very simple if they modified the interior doorway "flaps." Waste of money and certainly a waste of innocent wildlife. Will not recommend to anyone.
