Continously use
If using this to cool medication continuously, be sure to follow product directions and soak in water for only a few minutes. Soaking longer caused gel leakage.

It works!
I must admit that I was skeptical that this would actually work as described, but simply put, it does and I love it. I bought this because I fly a lot and didn't want to deal with products with ice packs, especially going through TSA (I know ice packs are permitted by TSA for medicine but the process can still be a pain). This is much more convenient and compact and keeps things cold for several days (not hours) without refrigeration. There is no melting or sweating of ice packs to deal with and you don't need to worry about ice packs that can freeze your medicine. I have been using it since November, and it worked for all of my trips without an issue (even to several hot locations in the Caribbean). Simply soak the interior pouch in water, lay it on a paper towel to soak up any excess water, slide your medicine in the pouch, slide the pouch into the outer case and go. The product has some type of crystals in the interior pouch lining that swell when soaked in water and turn into a gel like substance. When you are finished using it, you just let it sit out and air dry and the gel turns back into crystals. It is so simple, convenient and reusable.

Very misleading
Barely cools and didn’t stay “cool” for our 8 hour road trip. Customer service would not give me a refund.

Stay cool and safe—no ice packs or batteries needed
Bought this to safely store insulin during travel and hot weather. What I like• Keeps insulin cool for over 45 hours without ice or electricity• Just soak in water to activate—super easy and reusable• Compact size fits easily in a purse or carry-onWhat could be better• Doesn’t keep meds cold, just cool—won’t replace a fridge• Takes a while to dry out completely after useBottom line: A reliable, no-fuss cooling case for on-the-go insulin storage. Perfect for travelers or anyone on the move, but look at 4AllFamily Insulin Cooler if you need refrigerated temps.

Refresh every few days and you're golden!
I bought this product for my teenage type 1 diabetic son. He needed independence and this gives peace of mind. It does not leak! I read a review stating it leaks. After recharging with water and only while it's wet in the water their may be a very slight film on the water. It's likely from the gel beads, but to claim it leaks is ridiculous. It's much better to chatge every 2 to 3 days if you're going to use it continuously. My son often forgets to recharge with water and the beads get dried out if you do this. This little bag is amazing! It keeps 2 pens perfectly (unless you overcharge!) If you do overcharge be sure to put medication in with the lid on top sliding pen in with counterpart first. This way you don't have to try and get a lid out! This only happens that the fit is too tight if you leave in water too long. The learning curve isn't that hard. I'd recommend using a timer. Start with 2 minutes per side in cold water and continue flipping until product feels full. It will literally puff up! First time or after not using for a while takes longer to charge. Love this little thing! Now if only they made them specifically for epipens! Not to people who don't understand the concept os this bag, it keeps your medication at room temp! Once insulin is removed from fridge for use this is recommended! Nobody wants to put refrigerated insulin in their body! It can hurt/sting. Also remember it's perfectly safe to store your insulin at room temperature and use for 28 days! Some people write reviews complaining this product doesn't keep their child's insulin at 45 degrees. It seems they don't understand that's just when refrigerating for long term storage that u have a max temp of 46. Personally I keep our insulin in a seperate mini fridge and store around 40°. Recommend Temps are 36° to 46° F or between 2-8°C. That's for long term storage!!!This Frio wallet is for daily storage at room temperatures! Room temperature storage is between 59° to 86° F or 15° to 30°C . This keeps it perfectly in that sweet spot even when in the heat when used properly! Sweet spot being 20–25°C or 68–77°F! Incredible product.

Not TSA friendly!
I used this for the first time on an international trip (United/Lufthansa) out of SFO. I have TSA Pre and would normally get a fast trip through security but the fancier scanning machines in the TSA Pre line at SFO immediately detected the water in the Frio and I got held up for 20 minutes as they normally are not used to bag searches in the TSA Pre line. When wet the granules still show up as water to the scanner, and will appear like you have a bag of water in your carry-on.Second issue - when the pack gets squished the gel granules will squeeze out of the cloth wrapping, making a mess. I had to take insulin in the aircraft bathroom during the 11-hour flight and the gel granules went all over the bathroom sink (I had to sop them up with a paper towel to get the sink clean enough for the next user). For both these reasons I discarded the gel pack once I got to my hotel and just carried my insulin pens without benefit of this wallet on the trip home (didn't want to get stopped a second time). The idea is good, and it probably gets through scanners at less-sophisticated airports but newer scanning machines will detect the water and your bag will get searched.
