This is a pretty novel idea that has real potential—but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. When I first saw a water bottle with a false bottom that could store a cell phone, I thought it was genius. No one wants to walk off with someone else’s water bottle, so it makes for a sneaky, practical hideaway. Just unscrew the bottom, and there’s a compartment big enough to slide in a phone. My Motorola Edge (with a case, about 3" x 6.75" x 0.6") fits securely, with not a lot of room to spare. There's even a removable rubber bumper in the bottom cap to hold your phone in place if needed—mine didn’t need it. There’s also space for a few small essentials—some cash, a key fob, maybe earbuds. Once the bottom cap is screwed back on, it looks like a regular, if oddly shaped, reusable water bottle. A great concept on paper. But the problems with this thing stack up fast. First off, the build quality is cheap, and it feels cheap. I’m not sure what type of plastic this is, but I wouldn’t want to drink water from it. It holds only about two cups of water—not nearly enough to be useful. It’s also not insulated, so if you put ice-cold water in it, expect condensation to build up in the hidden compartment—right where your phone lives. Not good. The phone cavity also sticks out beyond the natural profile of the bottle, giving it a weird shape that actually draws attention—exactly the opposite of what you want in a discreet stash bottle. The outside is coated with that soft-touch fake rubber that feels nice at first, but give it a few months and it’ll oxidize and turn into a sticky mess. (Seriously, why do manufacturers keep using this stuff?) But by far the biggest design flaw is the color. It's a black water bottle meant to hold water and electronics. Don’t even think about leaving this thing in the sun or a hot car—it’ll soak up heat like a solar oven and could easily ruin your phone and turn your water into soup. A different color—or better yet, some basic insulation—would go a long way here. Bottom line: the idea is genuinely clever, but the current design just isn't ready for prime time. If someone takes this concept and builds it right—with better materials, smarter insulation, and more practical capacity—it could be a winner. Until then, it's more of a novelty than a truly useful product.
