I'm overweight and the large does fit. However, as you may suspect that even though I can get them on just fine, they don't stay. Any amount of movement causes them to roll down until they are below the knee. However, I'm an optimistic and am still very happy as they do work perfectly as leg warmers (that you wear under the pants) instead. They stay up like socks and they are warm and soft. I'll probably buy a second pair so I can wear them throughout the winter without interruption.
