Lots of problems! & listing changed
I was the last person to purchase this antenna before they changed the listing completely and lost all the feedback on it. Why would they do that? You might ask. Well, it’s because they don’t seem to know what they have. The old listing had this advertised as a quad-band which it is not. It’s a copy of an older diamond antenna that used to work very well. This antenna came crammed in a box with the quad band label. The supplied Allen wrench doesn’t fit the set screws and the set screws ought to be replaced with higher quality screws from your local hardware store, so add that to the price. The durability SEEMS okay but like most copies of antennas with a fold over design, you’ll also need to find a way to prevent it from dropping and scratching your car.The reception is actually less than a shorter one I already had. This surprised me a bunch! The shorter version had better reception by over 12db! (2 s-units)So, it’s NOT a quad band. It needs new set screws and it folds over at highway speeds. It’s comically large but without the performance improvement you’d expect. All in all, it’s not a “bad” antenna but it isn’t good enough to deal with all the problems it comes with, either. If you buy one, grab the base of it right after a long conversation. You may find (like I did) that the base gets warm which means the power is just getting converted to heat. (For me, just 50 watts warmed the base.) Hopefully the new listing means one of the many problems has been corrected. I ended up paying 15% more on a name brand antenna and I suggest you do too.
