Something is wrong with the Chinese economy. I got two of these boxes (a 16x12x8 and a 12x10x6) for less then the cost of dinner at a medium end restaurant in California.They are incredible. Very well built. The combo lock and knob thing is a bit corny, would have preferred a lever. But otherwise, they exceed my expectation across the board. I was budgeting for $500-$1000 for boxes for this project. I got out for $110. How can that be?

Work perfectly for my outdoor application. Very sturdy material, quality workmanship, and it seals well. I recommend it.

The box is a perfect size for my solar charge controller, and the big hole on the bottom is nice for me to run my cables. I'll use a step drill-bit to knock a small hole to run the cables through the bottom cover to complete my install, but this is perfect for my application.The one thing surprising to me (as a new person doing this is that I ordered the box a little big for my application, but I didn't realize that the door would be much smaller than the stated "size" shown online. So I am really happy that I got a larger box because it really does "accidentally" fit my solar controller just perfectly. Measure twice before ordering... but I am super happy with this box.

Box is built nicely. The door and the rest are all solid. It is heavy and you probably will want an extra hand installing it (I did at least). Wish the top was beveled so rain and especially snow and ice would slide off of it.Don't like that security door. I guess there are places this is needed it just looked like it would be easy to forget how it worked. I took it our and put a regular handle on it with a key lock.Like that the bottom panel came out and made for easier mounting of connectors.Overall very nice. Time will tell how the paint lasts but it looks good.

I like the construction of the box. It has a rubber seal on the door that should keep out mositure. However I have a couple of concerns about the box itself and the lack of instructions. The box combo lock on the front door is super small. The tumblers do not move all that easy either which makes it difficult to get into the box. The inside diameter of the box where the door closes has a mildly sharp edge. I do appreciate the metal cover on the base but it is counterintuitive as to the purpose of the box. I wanted to run wires through and to lock the electrical controls. I will need to either completely remove the bottom cover or drill custom holes. The kit does come with some solid mounting brackets but the instructions are rather poor and does provide any guidelines for application and installation.

I ordered the 20"x16"x10" model project box. As has been stated repeatedly in other reviews, the box construction is substantial, well finished and well sealed against weathering. The door (mine is the solid metal version) can be reversed for lefthand hinging if desired, is electrically grounded and seals against a thick gasket. The combination lock/latch is useful to keep out the curious, but provides no real security and there is no other alternative locking method provided, though it would be reasonably easy to add a locking hasp to the box, if needed for additional security.The back steel mounting plate is removable, so that it may be modified as necessary. As noted, there are no cable punch-outs but the steel removable bottom plate can be drilled as necessary and refitted to the box with the provided sealing gasket.This project box can be used for many purposes. In addition to the obvious electrical applications, it could be adapted as a readily accessible EMP protective storage area or as a critter proof storage area. What ever purpose it is put to, it will provide durable and environmentally secure storage and access.

This is a sturdy box. For the price range it's well made and of average quality. Fit and finish is good. I am very happy that it's black. Most of these electric boxes come in this odd beige white. This box is installed inside my garage and I prefer my boxes black. A sidenote: It arrived well packaged. Five stars from me. I hope this helps to make a decision.

This feels like it's the same quality as other electrical boxes I've handed over my years in construction. It has a good weight to it and doesn't feel like thin sheet metal to me. The hinges look sturdy, the door 8s bonded to the shell and it came with mounting hardware for wall mounting. For me I intend to use this to make a cabinet for a laser engraver and will be cutting the metal and can measure the actual thickness when I do.Also, the combo Lock is perfect for this because I can lock it to keep people from opening it while it's running. Should work really well.
