Prestantious Downspout Rainwater Diverter Fit for 3"x4" and 2"x3" Downspout

The diverter works as advertised. It is relatively easy to install: you have remove a section of the downspout to install the two pieces. Once the section of downspout is removed, installation of the diverter and hose is easy. Great product.

This rainwater diverter has been so effective that we ended up buying two! It was easy to install and works exactly as intended. After a good rain, we were amazed at how much water it collected—in just one day, we filled a 275-gallon IBC tote for use in our garden. It’s been a fantastic addition to our homestead and a great way to make use of free rainwater. Highly recommend!

Worked well in my application as seen in the photos. I would have gladly given it five stars, but there’s definitely room for some improvement. Although the device is well-made, sturdy, easy to install, and looks great. The supplied hose does not match the quality of the diverter itself, it comes collapsed and does not want to stay open, which restricts water flow, and also got sticky after just the first couple of days in the sun. I ended up replacing the supplied hose with one purchased separately. I also added clamps, which could easily have been included in the kit. I think it was a good purchase and seemed to be the best reasonably priced one available, I just think they can make a few adjustments to improve the overall package for the consumer.

I needed to switch the knob to the backside of the diverter to allow me to have the outlet of the rainwater to be on the left side of the diverter as opposed to the right side that comes standard. It’s easy to switch, just unscrew and take off the knob. However the holes on the backside of the diverter that allows the knob to click in place are too deep or not properly aligned because it’s almost impossible to rotate the knob to change the amount of water passing through the diverter without taking the whole thing apart. I got it to work, but I have to take the diverter off of my gutters any time I want to move the lever to allow more or less water to pass through. Not terrible but it defeats the purpose of having the adjustable knob in the first place. That being said, it works and was fairly easy to install; just don’t rely on the adjustable knob and know its limitations before purchasing.

This diverter is exactly what I needed to set up my rain barrel system. Super easy to install. Used a sawzall to cut out the section of downspout, inserted as shown in the diagram and easy instructions, attached the hose and ran it to the rain barrel. I just cut off the excess hose length, and based on other reviews, I did zip tie it to the diverter. We’ve had two rains since then and it’s working perfectly.

My rain water collection system is comprised of a converted recycled bin and this diverter. No I didn’t steal the recycle bin. My subdivision changed waste disposal companies and the old one didn’t want their bins back. I’m guessing it will hold 50-60 gallons. This diverter valve works ok. Installation is designed to be easy, but I thought the fit was too loose and sloppy so I loosened the downspout brackets and pushed the bottom section up to wedge this diverter in a bit more solidly. See the photos. If I have to take it apart to clean it, I will have to loosen and slide the downspout down to get it out. If you don’t have gutter guards you will have to clean it out periodically. Notice the hose clamp on the outlet tube. This is not included and may not be needed but I am picky about hoses without clamps. It would have been nice to have one included. The diverter is designed for 3” and 4” downspouts. The top is made for 4” but it comes with a nice plastic insert to accommodate a 3” downspout. The bottom has a 3” outlet so if you use this on s 4” downspout there will be some water restriction. It shouldn’t be an issue for all but torrential downpours. I would like to have seen it designed with rubber grommets to adapt and seal both the top and bottom. I would also liked to have seen some screw hanger slots molded into the case. I don’t care for the diverter valve just sitting loosely in the downspout and relying on the downspout for support. I do like the easy reversibility of this valve from output on the right side to output on the left side. Overall I think it will work just fine. A little bit more effort would have made it great.
