They open up to 2”, fit my lathe well and hold the pen blanks tightly with the included bars.

Wish I could give it better stars, as it does save the cost of a cheap drill press at harbor freight, HOWEVER, I bought this only for pen making and my blanks wobble quite a bit. I can fight it, which I do. for every blank and it works great with effort, but I just wish I didn't have to try so hard to make this work properly. Just a newbie trying to save money.

Works as expected holding blanks for drilling centered holes and turning pen and crochet hook handles. Using on a Jet JWL-1015vs mini lathe.

Wonderful tool. Some have said it is off center by 1/8 inch but if you expand the chuck to take off the fingers then turn the adjustment knob you can get the threads to line up the fingers exactly on center. No wobble.

Easy to install on lathe but not so good at tightening up the blanks. Considering that cost it is worth the price.

This is a good chuck for the price. It's nothing fancy but solves a problem that I was having which was finding pen jaws that were compatible with my chuck. It also saves you from having to install/uninstall pen jaws on your chuck (if you only have 1). You can simply screw on this chuck and turn down pen blank sized wood. I would not use it for anything larger, however. My only critique is that they are longer than I need, 1" or 1.5" would suffice.

I use this chuck to hold the pen blank while I drill the hole. It's easy to use and holds the blank securely during the drilling operation.
