Great for the Backwoods
I do a lot of camping and backpacking. I have brought this machete with me on both. When you are in the backwoods and are able to start fires for your nighttime cooking or just normal warmth and enjoyment, it is important to have the means to obtain usable wood for the fire. There are many ways to do that, and a machete is just one of them. It is my preferred method. I do have compact thumb tree saws and foldable saws that work great as well, but having a large blade is useful in many other ways too. This machete is compact in comparison to others and has a great heavy-duty sheath that snaps at the handle and the side for great slip out protection and security. It fits great in my hands and feels comfortable when I use it. The spine is thick and extremely useful for whacking with another piece of wood for splitting logs down for medium sized kindling. The blade is and came out of the box super sharp. Stick into a good-sized piece of wood so you can make feather sticks, hack at branches on snags, or even use it to cut food for dinner. It is the right size for any job you might have while enjoying nature at your own pace.

Superior Cleaver
I searched long and hard to make sure I would find what I wanted. This machete/cleaver has a really nice heft. It is a single piece of steel, and the blade is nearly 1/4" thick at the widest point. It is heavy. It is not a knife, but the blade is very sharp, and the weight makes it ideal for chopping as well as cutting. The handle is made of wood and a little rough, but still nice. The sheath is leather and decent, although because of the weight, I wish it had a tie-loop at the end to make carrying it easier. For the price, I cannot think of a nicer blade.

The most impressive knife in my very big collection.
The quality of the metal, and the thickness, is more durable than any knife or machete I have ever owned before. It is sharp enough to shave the hairs off of my arm.The blade is not much longer than a large bowie knife, but the thickness of the shaft causes it to hit very hard. This will easily slice through small branches, and if you use a large stick like a hammer, you could chop down many a small tree with this knife. The weight, and the balance are extraordinary.I originally ordered one for myself. But, I was so impressed with the knife, I ordered one more for each of my children. (Youngest is 17)This knife is not a toy, and not for children. But, for what I want and need, it is perfect!Camping, survival, etc.One knife that can do it all.

I am very impressed with this machete
I’m very impressed with this machete. The holster is made very nicely. Nice strong.Only drawback I have felt on the handle edges are sharp to the thumb and fingers would have been nice to have these edges touched slightly with a file from the factory, so they are not so sharp.Outside of this feature, I am obsessed with this knife

Worth every penny
This chopper really surprised me. Heavy, solid construction. Be careful. Razor, and I mean razor sharp out of the box. I haven't used it in the field yet, but just curious tried to shave my arm. It literally shaves. This will be a major part of my hunting/survival gear. I may buy another one.

Competent and thus far extremely reliable tool!
There's definitely nothing I don't like about this thrasher. Came so sharp I could shave even my neck "dry and clean" with it. I improved the grip by tightly wrapping paracord around the handle allowing for "choking down" to give it more weight and power when really wailing full on and generating noticeable added force and damage (but not to the blade) and of course, lending to an improved grip. While working with a group of ~70 college volunteers deadheading daffodils, among other things, one particular big strong fella of the bunch really liked the feel of this tool and actually agreed that even my modification with the Paracord clearly felt just right. I'm likely going to purchase at least 11-17 more of these via a pending grant so that in the future, work days like this as well as middle school wilderness survival campers will have the opportunity to work and train with a competent machete.

Incredible quality for the $$.
So I received this item for use in bush craft projects. The quality for the money is off the chain. Very well made and sharp. My 26 year old son came home and opened it up and remarked “that’s a serious knife!” The sheath is very nicely made. Not leather but fits the blade quite nicely. I had been looking at the one Silky makes for over$100 and couldn’t pull the trigger. This one is excellent. Give it a try. I don’t think that you’ll be disappointed.

Very please with this Machete / knife!
Aside from the description text vs pics being WRONG with wight and thickness.... I can say the "Silver" version knife I received is 1 lb 2.6 oz or 1.16 lbs or 527 g in weight, 3.96 mm thick at the spine of the knife, and cuts a piece of newspaper very easily meaning it is VERY sharp out of the box! Could not be happier unless it was just a bit heavier (more than 1.16 lbs would be much better) and thicker (5 mm+ would be better). The leather sheath appears to be decent and should hold up ok. I see no weakness in the snaps and the leather is thick. The handle is wood, not plastic and it is not cracked or splintered. Overall I very pleased with what I received and as a new item I have no 'complaints' in what I have, but it has not been used yet either.
