Just Love It !!!
We have 2 small dogs and I bought 2 gates because we have many stairs and want to section off the house when we are not home. I just hate the idea of putting your pets in a small cage. With the extra brackets (which are provided), I can now periodically move one and use it for the deck to keep my puppies confined to the deck. The typical gates were not long enough to close off the wide opening. Also now when friends and family come over to visit (with their dogs) they can also enjoy the deck without having to keep their dogs on a leash. I have always hated the typical gates (specifically my husband). The traditional gates are ugly and always in the way. When I saw the Bindaboo Gate, I liked the idea. The Bindaboo Gate is just WONDERFUL. When you don't want to use it, they just roll up and are completely out of the way. By the way they are NOT noisy (if you hold the button down while closing it) and very easy to use. I have had so many compliments from friends and family. I HIGHLY recommend this item. It is the BEST investment I have made and well worth the money. I have had them for 2 months and I just LOVE IT...

unstable mounting; difficult to open and close
this gate is good looking (as far as baby/dog gates go), but I think the downfall, and likely the reason it's cheaper than the others is that it's difficult to roll/unroll it. The mechanism is designed in a way that only an adult can do it which is fine, bit it makes it so you cant so it with one hand which is annoying when in a rush. but the real problem is that the roller sometimes pops off the mounting brackets and the whole thing falls apart. this is because the mechanism that holds the roller to the wall is push fit and doesn't have its own locking mechanism like a screw or latch. as a result, my wife hates it and wants me to buy the more expensive one that doesn't look as compact and nice. I'm thinking of adding an L-bracket and a screw to the part that holds the roller to the wall which should resolve that but most people wouldn't bother and would return it.

Company has atrocious customer service
I ordered this gate to keep my 2 chihuahuas contained in one room. I read the product description and the reviews, and decided to order it. (I actually ordered 2. )When we received the gates, my husband installed one of them. My biggest chihuahua took 2 minutes to find out how to wriggle under the mesh. The fabric is flimsy, and there is just enough room between it and the floor to allow a 7 pound dog to work his way under it. So, I tried to return the gates. My husband packaged them back exactly like they were, and I asked to return them. Amazon sent an email telling me that I needed to work with the seller, and the seller had been notified. I received an email from 123 that they would look into it, and get back to me. After a week of never hearing back, I filed a claim with Amazon. Wouldn't you know it? I received an email the next day from 123 giving me an RA number and an RA form to print, fill out, and send back with the gates. They also notified me that there would be 15% restocking fee. The form they sent was entirely wrong, saying I was returning an entirely different item to be exchanged. I called the company and talked to a representative, telling him that the form was wrong and I didn't agree with the restocking fee. I already have to pay for shipping it back, so what's with the extra fee for nothing? He promised to check with a supervisor and get back with me in an hour. After 5 days, I still had not heard back. I called again and talked with another man, who said he would call me back in two hours. It has been several hours and I haven't heard back. I don't know how this will be resolved, but it has already been far too much hassle. This return should have been a no brainer. I am sure the gates would work for most mid sized dogs. So, the one star review is not for the gate, but for the seller. If you have no problem with an order, everything is fine. But, if anything is wrong, you are out of luck. If you want this gate there are many places to get it online. My advice would be to avoid this seller.

Well made but a little wonky
I bought two of these to keep our pet rabbits out of the kitchen and the stairs when they're out of their hutch running around. Setup and installation was straightforward, but it did take me a few minutes of reading and setting up the templates to figure it out.Now installed, I am impressed with the construction and quality of the gates. The unlock mechanism is a little wonky, but works well. My only complaint is these are TWO-handed opening and closing. There is no way to have an armful of laundry and open the gate.

Difficult to retract gate
Purchased this to use as a baby gate. Liked that it was retractable and could be installed in multiple locations, though once we installed it we didn't use either of those features. The gate works but it is really difficult to open and close it. Requires 2 hands to open (one to turn and hold down the knob and the other to pull the fabric across and hook the handles, one at a time) and makes a louder than desired racketing noise when the cloth is unwinding. Both are annoying enough that we just leave the gate closed all the times. Both my husband and I are engineers and pretty handy, but the install on this included far too many swear words and a few extra holes in the wall in order to get the cloth to stretch exactly parallel to the floor. My one year old daughter seems to like the gate. She makes blowfish faces up against the fabric and it holds her weight (20lbs) just fine when she leans on it. Durable enough to withstand kids, though I'd assume pet slobber and claws may show their abuse over time (just a guess as we don't have any pets). Also, small pets may be able to squeeze under as the cloth is flexible. Would recommend if you want an occasional use baby gate (say a grandparent) but not recommended for high traffic areas or full time parents.

Very Pleased
This works great, had a problem in the beginning with a defective gate but Fred from Frugal Living had a replacement on the way at once. I wish they were larger than 55", I had to pad out each side of my porch opening to make it fit.

Great but locking mechanism fiddly
Good robust product but the locking mechanism that you have to push to open and close the gate makes it very fiddly - especially if you are trying to keep a puppy behind it :-) I stayed somewhere that had one of these without the locking mechanism and I would go for that one next time.

No good if using for dogs
Rubbish. Used it as a wall for my dog in kitchen for when we have to leave it for a couple of hours. He chewed through bottom of gate and got out. Not tough enough material

Can't operate one handed if holding child
This is a good gate regarding space and that it retracts inside itself, however you can open or close it one handed so if you are carrying a child it's impossible.

Do not buy!
Complete waste of money! does not fit the staircase and small animals can easily push up and walk underneath! very noisey to open and close so wakes up the whole house! Complete rip off!

Didn't realise that you had to drill holes to fit ...
Didn't realise that you had to drill holes to fit it so I sent it back. I thought it worked on pressure
