Named for its unique shape, Tri-Color Toasted Pearled Couscous (also known as Tri-Color Israeli Couscous or Tri-Color Pearled Pasta) is shaped and rolled into tiny balls and then toasted. This allows the product to absorb liquids and cook up more like a rice or risotto. The toasting process also gives this product a nutty flavor and satisfying mouth feel. Unlike risotto, you do not have to stand over the couscous adding simmering stock every few minutes. Simply sauté onions in garlic and olive oil, add the couscous and stir well to coat, and then add water or stock. Cook, allowing the couscous time to simmer and absorb the liquid, add vegetables, herbs and seasonings as desired. This tricolor toasted pearl couscous is simply sensational made with fresh basil and summer tomatoes; sprinkle some feta cheese on top and serve with grilled marinated lamb, chicken or beef. Our color will be bright and vibrant even after cooking it.

Tasty, Easy and Cost Effective in Bulk
I bought a big 10 pound bag of this couscous not knowing whether it was gonna be any good or not. I figured it's kind of hard to mess up couscous. I've made it several times for myself and for friends and have gotten rave reviews. A local restaurant here makes a dish using this large (Israeli) couscous as the base with some roasted vegetables and rosemary chicken breast on top. I think they charge about $14 for that entree, and I can make it for a few dollars at home now. The first time I ordered it, I asked, "Is this couscous?" because it seems more like little mini pearl pasta. Sure enough it is. It's simple and quick to cook. The directions say boil it in water, but I like to boil it in the same equivalent of organic chicken broth. I like that this one has the 3 color versions, 1 being spinach and 1 being carrot. It has a good amount of protein and also iron, which I assume comes from the Spanish. It's an interesting alternative instead of rice or pasta. Of course, if you are gluten intolerant, this would be a disaster as it's a wheat-based product.

Beautiful pearl couscous, easy to prepare and so tasty.
This Israeli a.k.a. pearl couscous is wonderful. It's actually a pasta and not dry like regular couscous tends to be. My favorite way to serve it is the simplest: you need 1 cup couscous with 1 & 1/2 cups of chicken stock (serves 4 as a small side dish). Bring the chicken broth to a boil, pour in the couscous and stir. Cook for approximately 7 minutes, stirring often, add a bit more chicken stock as needed to keep the couscous from sticking. It shouldn't stick together, but should have a bit of moisture from the broth, so it appears almost like shiny little pearls. Serve immediately. It's great served with grilled tenderloin over a bed of the beautiful pearl couscous. It takes like pasta, but has a nice texture and goes great with anything, as it doesn't overpower other dishes since its subtly seasoned with just the broth.Love this stuff, my 10lb bag will go quickly!

Some people might like it..
it is difficult to eat these because they are like little slippery bouncy balls. you have to push it out with your tongue and in with your cheeks to keep them between your teeth.

Im sure this is a great value for the money but its a little bland in taste, perhaps I need to learn a few more recipes using couscous and the flavoring to add. I should have purchased a smaller quantity before trying this. Its great in soups though.

Not good
Tasted rancid and old. I can’t believe all the good reviews. Maybe I got an old batch. No one in my family liked it and we love couscous
