This is a high quality chess set to please players of all levels. It arrived in a sturdy carboard box, not a single mark or dent. Inside this box was a 2nd box and within this a cardboard slleve. Inside this was the Chess set in the display box customers see on shop shelf. Within this the chess set was wrapped in a felt wrapper. I knew just from the way it was packaged it was going to be a quality chess set. Onmce I removed the chess set from the sleeve i was met with a beautiful smooth set. Maple and Walnut inlay! Each playing piece was well carved. Ea.sy to distinguis each piece. 2 Queens so an extra Queen of each colour. My first thought was this must be the wrong item and I have been sent a chess set worth 3 times than the one I bought. Quite honestly I do nkot know how they can make it at such a low price. Attention to detail is first class. The set comes with each piece having its own moulded home inside the box and comes with a checquers set. I am blown away by the quality. MY Wife and I are keen to start playing chess again. I can fin no negatives, if you want a Chess set as a beginner or an experienced player this is a great choice. Worth every penny.

Nice piece of set, we like it

Despite all the hype, the box design has drawbacks. The mini bracket feet are quite hard, with the potential to scratch a table. The metal clasp is not raised above the table, again risking scratching. Both chess and draughts pieces have to be removed to use the board. Quality is very good for the price. Most importantly, the pieces are easily distinguished, unlike some sets where queen and bishop are too similar. Good instructions included.

I never write reviews but I was compelled to with this item. I had got the £20 GGIE chessboard on Amazon before this, which was a massive let down in almost every way. So I did loads of research to find a better board at a reasonable price and found this, and honestly, it exceeded my expectations. Both the chessboard and pieces are absolutely beautiful. I got the weighted pieces (I find magnetic ones feel a bit cheap and childish.) They weighed more than I was expecting, and provide that satisfying "thud" when you place them on the board. The felt is thick too, not a piece of paper like on most pieces this price. This comes with the newer style pieces, which look when more elegant than the ones in older review photos on here. The gap in the board is honestly almost invisible, and more importantly, I can smoothly glide pieces over it. It came with notation stickers which I was hoping for, but now I'm undecided whether to use them as the board looks so beautiful as it is. I'd like to thank A&A for creating a perfect product at such an amazing price. And for you, the reader, your search for the best folding board ends here.

Amazing quality!

nice quality product....well finished and a good size

It looks nice and the pieces seem well made. The pawns are a bit small and I don’t really like how the pieces have plastic underneath to reduce friction. I would have preferred having nothing underneath as I won’t be travelling a lot with them, so movement is not an issue. Also, got accidentally shipped 3 white queens instead of 2 queens and 1 king. Any chance I can buy the individual piece? 😅

Really great set for the price. Looks amazing when you play it, weighted pieces have a very nice feel. Somehow this set really makes me want to play more often. There are some inperfections if you look closely on pieces and of course there are better sets, but for this price nothing can beat this set imo.

Beau produit, sobre. Les pièces totalement officielles permettent de ne pas être dépaysé et se concentrer sur le jeu. La finition de l'échiquier, la précision des charnières sont excellents. Perso, je cherchais, à pouvoir ranger les pièces dans des emplacements pour éviter qu'elles ne s'entrechoquent en déplacement. Je voulais aussi les double dames. Donc comblé. Petit raffinement que je cherchais aussi : la couleur des pièces repose sur les essences de bois utilisées et non des vernis ou peintures. Le lestage et la feutrine sont bien finis aussi. Seul petit truc que je ne trouve pas pratique, les "pions de dames" qu'il faut enlever à chaque fois qu'on ouvre l'échiquier. Ce serait pas mal, d'avoir une astuce qui permette de les bloquer quand on retourne l'échiquier. Mais bon, détail mineur et après tout je pourrais les ranger ailleurs. Bref très agréable. 5 étoiles.

Exceeded my expectations

L'oggetto mi è arrivata in perfette condizioni e tutti i pezzi sono integri. Tutto è in ottimo legno perfettamente levigato e smussato. La confazione e la robusta scatola pieghevole col disegno della scacchiera all'esterno sono di gran classe. Ho avuto la fortuna di acquistare l'articolo in offerta e ora mi pento di non averne presi due o tre, comunque anche al prezzo attuale lo ricomprerei di sicuro, credo sia perfetto anche come idea per un regalo bello ed elegante. La confezione contiene, oltre ai pezzi per giocare a scacchi e a dama, lettere e numeri adesivi da attaccare sui bordi del campo da gioco (la cosa è ovviamente facoltativa), ci sono poi una bella cartolina postale con una foto di una partita di scacchi in corso e numerosi piccoli adesivi decorativi a tema. Il libretto contenente in poche pagine le regole di base con relative illustrazioni è in inglese, ma non è di certo un gran difetto, io non mi aspettavo neppure di trovarlo. Le misure dei pezzi sono medie e i pesi buoni, le loro forme sono classiche, belle e senza tanti fronzoli, ad esempio il cavallo non ha improbabili occhi mal posizionati e criniera con strani e orrendi solchi, è perfettamente stilizzato, con aspetto fiero e ottime proporzioni. Cinque stelle meritate.
