ULTRALOQ Latch 5, World's First Integrated WiFi Smart Lock (Black) with Fingerprint ID, 5-in-1 Electronic Keyless Entry Handle with Bluetooth, Biometric Fingerprint and Touch Digital Keyboard

I got my carpenter to fit this lock as part of fitting a new fire door to my apartment front entrance, therefore cannot comment on the installation process. The app is easy to download. I had to use an international phone service (Viber) to be ‘talked through’ how to set up the user for this smart lock, as I did not manage to figure this out from the written instructions that came with the lock. The customer service is in America and Australia (not the UK where I live) but the woman spent around 40 minutes with me on the phone until it was resolved. This phonecall was then followed up with an email from the company, so the customer service is excellent. You can set up multiple users for the smart lock with different codes, but it is not possible to change the code - if I ever want to change a user’s code, I have to delete the user and then re-ad them. It’s simple enough to do, but it would be better if there was the option to simply change the code without having to delete and re-ad each time. Once you know how to do this, it doesn’t take long. Very happy with the finger print access (2 finger prints per user) and also the 4-8 digit code access. I have not yet tried connecting this lock to Alexa or any of the other advertised features, so cannot comment on this functionality feature. I do keep the emergency key for the lock on my keyring along with my car key etc, and another spare key for this smart lock in a secure location ‘just in case’ I do get locked out using the digital function of this smart lock - the key hole is discreetly under the smart lock. Not yet had to use my emergency key access, but it’s good to have it available! Overall, very happy with this smart lock and the app that works alongside it. I like that with each ‘user’ you can choose if you want to add them as an ‘admin’, ‘normal user’ or ‘temporary user’. One last thing to comment on, is that this lock is not too loud to operate. There is a small beep and motor sound when it unlocks, but it is not bothersome which is great. Photo: side view of both sides of my smart lock.

This is a fantastic lock for its price, very durable and feels high quality. You do need your Wi-Fi network as a 2.4 GHz to set it up, but not a big issue. My only complaint about the lock is that the battery warning is not reliable, and it just died a few days ago out of the blue, which luckily wasn't a problem; but it could have been an issue for our Airbnb guests if we weren't around. The time before it bleeped about ten times before completely dying, which again isn't enough notice. We share a front door with our neighbour, and we both absolutely love the fact that we don't need keys now.

Solid smart lock and looks the part. Super easy to install as it was replacing an existing lock. My only installation issue was I couldn't set up an account on the app (cos I'm in the UK?) So customer support gave me a website to set the account up on instead. Wanted it for remote access capability for my serviced accommodation. Early days so not fully tested but fingerprint and keypad access work really well after set-up. Key gripe is that it constantly wants a Bluetooth connection and doesn't quickly switch to Wi-Fi once it realises no Bluetooth. I actually expected it to default fully to Wi-Fi after set up. Support says it's to do with the 2.4/5Ghz Wi-Fi as the device prefers the former. I'll work on this and see what happens. It does connect to Samsung smarthings which is my preferred solution so that's great for my needs. All in all, early days but I'm pleased with it.

This generally works well and it’s lovely not to have to carry keys around. Relatively easy to install if the holes already there match. Fingerprint recognition works the majority of the time, but struggles with wet or sweaty thumbs. Then you just use the code. Main criticism is to link to WiFi is complicated. Most modern WiFi is a mix of 2.4(5?) GHz and 5 GHz. You have to mess about trying to switch off the 5GHz signal so that it will recognise it. Bluetooth connection also variable. It’s a bit of a mystery why they can’t make this link in with most modern WiFi systems. Otherwise it would have been 5 stars.

Great product and excellent post purchase service

I have a Latch 5 NFC & would easily give it 5 stars as it works exactly as advertised, I needed another lock so I purchased a Latch 5 Fingerprint & thats when my issues started. The locks themselves are very well built, easy to install & in the case of the Latch 5 NFC easy to setup & connect to my wifi. The Latch 5 Fingerprint worked great via the number pad & the fingerprint reader but not so well via wifi. The Lock would not stay connected to wifi no matter what I tried, so I reached out to U-tec customer service for help. All I can say is that they have been fantastic to deal with. Once it was confermed that it was the lock Firmware that was causing the issue, they sent out two different updates & the second firmware update did the trick the lock now operates as it should. Now there are no wifi issues, the U-tec's app connects fast & is stable.

Excelente calidad! Probé Philips y Eufy antes que esta, pero nada mejor que esta Ultraloq, más de 5 meses con las baterías originales.

Muy fácil de instalar. La configuración de las huellas digitales y con Google Home se me complicó un poco porque lo estaba haciendo mal. Pero su atención a clientes y servicio técnico me ayudo y quedó funcionando al 100.
