My wife bought one of those pictures that comes in 5 panels.. great so far right so now I have to hang 5 separate pictures and they all have to be even, lets throw in the fact that its in the living room with a sloped ceiling .. OK I ordered this little gizmo because in my head thats what I needed, I also got the tripod and they both came the day after the picture so I was ready.. The learning curve was about 3 minutes and setup was another 5 .. now I put in the wall hangers on the laser line and crossed my fingers because with the sloped ceiling everything looked off.. Wouldn't you know it the pictures went up .. and on the first shot everything was level and looked like a pro had done it.. I don't know about you but having the right tool for the job ALWAYS makes a difference. ( it also helps keep your blood pressure down ) -- This worked GREAT !!

I do sublimation printing, and use this to line up graphics. Having an X and Y axis is very helpful. The green laser is sharp enough for my purposes, and plenty bright in my shop. Not sure how bright it would be outside in full sunlight though. I've mounted it on a camera tripod, and been very happy with the results.

This laser level works very well for home projects. 1. It has two modes: Unlocked mode and Locked mode 2. Unlocked mode (Automatic Leveling Mode) uses the internal pendulum to keep the device plumb. This is the mode that is most often used. The laser crosshairs will be plumb with the vertical. 3. Locked mode is when the internal pendulum is locked and not used. The laser crosshairs will be relative to the surface that the device is placed on, which might not be leveled. 4. It uses 2 AA batteries and comes with a small User's Manual that describes the basic features of the device. 5. The green laser light is bright and highly visible. 6. It can be mounted on a tripod to keep the device steady.

I picked this up on a lightening deal for $12. I'd say that is a fair price for it. I was using it to check the vertical level on some door jambs to make adjustments for the door to close better and it was on a small tripod I already had. I need the tripod because the vertical line starts to lose a lot brightness around 24" from the cross. So setting it on the floor made the top of vertical line hard to see at the top of the door - not impossible and you can definitely still see it, but not bright enough for me. I accidentally knocked it over and it fell about 2' onto a throw rug and the internal laser mounting got totally messed up. It was far beyond what it could self level and therefore total garbage after that. I sent it back as defective and got a new one. Description says "shock proof" but I wouldn't trust it on a job for a professional. I checked the new one against a 5' level I have and it is accurate. The horizontal line is bright for a larger distance but doesn't spread as wide as I hoped. I thought it would be close to 180 but it's probably around 120 degrees. I doubt it would be visible in a normally lit room from 100' away but it's good until at least 25 or 30 feet. Which is fine for home use. It only comes with 2 AA batteries and a basic case. That's fine for the deal price but for not much more money there are other laser sets that might be better depending on your needs.

It's pretty wild that you can buy a laser level (and plumb line) for so little money. As other reviewers have noted, the laser lines probably aren't bright enough to be visible at large distances outdoors, but it works like a charm indoors. The unit is solid and simple, and I suspect that it will remain functional for several years if treated with care. I can't say how this unit compares to other similarly-priced units, but this one is definitely worth the purchase price, if you have any use for a tool of this type.

The Nikotek green laser level arrived well packaged and in good order. The laser comes with a lightweight tripod which gives reasonably accurate adjustment and stability. There are a set of instructions supplied which cover all aspects of the use and safety factors of using the laser. I have recently installed three shelves inside a cupboard and marking out the anchor points was a breeze, no wrestling around with measuring tapes and spirit levels in confined spaces. The quality of the laser is good. I was a bit concerned with the level lock switch at first as it felt a bit loose to me, but having used the level several times it is still working fine. The combined laser level and tripod is significantly less than I paid for my branded level and gives the same results. I would highly recommend the level for diy use. I have taken a couple of photos in my kitchen during daylight on a light coloured surface to give an indication of the laser visibility. Great time saver and highly recommended.
