Very pleased with this story book

This is a review for Well-Loved Tales: The Elves and the Shoemaker and does not apply to any other listing. An absolute classic in the Well-Loved Tales range from Ladybird Books makes a welcome return in the centenary year with this reprint of the original first edition of The Elves and the Shoemaker. Ladybird has republished a number of classics in their vintage range and they are well worth picking up. Don't be fooled by the more widely-available editions which have been re-illustrated and, in some cases, rewritten. As I've mentioned in another Ladybird reprint review, this book - as with all the facsimiles so far - includes a dust wrapper rather than the more well-known matt-finished pictorial board. This is because the original first editions included dust wrappers until around 1965 when the books and their reprints moved across to the matt editions. Everything else is as you remember it - a fantastic heart-warming story with absolutely stunning artwork, and the cover is one of Ladybird's all-time greats. More "vintage" Ladybird reprints are appearing later in 2015. I do hope they continue the range way beyond this anniversary year.

This took me straight back to my childhood. My grandkids are going to love it.

Lovely little book.

Bought this for my new granddaughter, the parents requested books that were the guests favourites . This was mine, couldn’t help reading it before I gift wrapped it …. We also had to add a note for why , so it was extra special for them reading it to her when she’s older Fast delivery , looks good too , Shame it’s paper backed and not built in to the hard cover like years ago , but still a great buy .
