Great protection, sleek design, and super portable but not without a couple of quirks
I bought the tomtoc Armor Case for my Steam Deck OLED because I needed something slim and protective that wouldn’t bulk up my backpack. After using it for a while, I’m honestly really happy with it.What I love about it:The fit is perfect. My Steam Deck feels super secure inside, it doesn’t move around at all.The case itself feels solid and tough, like it could take a drop or a bump without a problem. You can charge the Steam Deck without taking it out of the case, which is super convenient when you’re on the go.The semi-transparent smoky design looks really sleek and minimal, not too flashy but still cool.A few things to be aware of:The latch is a little stiff at first and clicks loudly when you open and close it. Not a huge deal, but it might catch you off guard the first time. There’s no ventilation when the case is closed, so if you play while charging inside the case, it could get warm.It won’t fit if you’re using big grips or certain kickstands. Mine fits fine, but if you like to add lots of accessories, you might need to double-check the size.Final thoughts:For me, this is a great everyday and travel case. It keeps my Steam Deck safe without being bulky and looks great too. I wouldn’t recommend leaving the Deck running inside the case for long sessions because of the heat, but for storage and transport, it’s perfect. If you want something protective and portable without adding bulk, I’d definitely recommend it.

Great travel case
Exactly what I wanted from a travel case. It looks great and provides ample protection while being much slimmer than the official case. It holds my deck firmly so it doesn't rattle inside and it has an opening for charging. The latch could be a bit softer but i can live with it.

Fits like a glove
Fits like a glove. Hard shell. Minimal size increase over the deck. Feels bomb-proof. Not dropped it yet, so dunno how brittle it is and it's ability to withstand cracking

Protective, heavy, awkward clip fastener.
This thing is really heavy. I know I'm not the first person to say this. Mind you, it does seriously protect the Steam Deck, so I'll allow it.And the issue with the close mechanism is real. There have been some gargantuan struggles to get it open or closed, to the point I'm going to the gym now for extra strength!Joking aside, it's a great piece of kit, and really does protect the Deck. I'm a little casual with my kit and worried I'd break it by just shoving it on my backpack for travel!

Slim and offers great protection at the cost of the loudest snapping sound ever
I think this is the slimmest case that you can get for the steam deck, also offers the most protection. Only con I can think of is the snap sound when closing it. I imagine that's how a snapping turtle's bite also sounds like.

Super compact
VERY Compact compared to the original case, I never use the default case anymore. This case may look cheap from the photos but it's really high quality. Totally worth the price

Makes a HUGE difference to how much room the deck takes up
When I first received this, I was sceptical about how much space it would actually save in my bag. It didn't immediately seem that much smaller than the standard deck case, but the fit was satisfyingly snug and it felt sturdy enough. Then I took it to work for the first time and the difference in how easily it slotted into my backpack compared to the OG case was night and day, so so worth it. The only downside is that the clip to hold it closed is LOUD. Every time I put the deck away at the end of a train journey the sound always draws looks from people on the carriage, so if we're nitpicking I would have loved a quieter, lever system for closing the clip.
