Embellishing Crazy Quilts: for Beginners

For beginners it’s great. Gives you instructions and pictures

No color photos and no templates the ideas are good but the patterns would be unusually difficult to transfer to the fabric

This book is very helpful for newer Crazy Quilters. It teaches the basics about how to keep your stitching in straight lines by using simple to make templates. It has a good section on how to develop stitches by adding new stitches on top of others for beautiful added effects. The last section of the book gives you the very useful ideas of how to fill the blank space we all deal with tastefully with patterns, ideas for buttons beads and more embroidery. Great Book!!! I highly recommend this book!

Really not pleased with the content of this book. No colored pictures qhuch I love to look at for inspiration as to how to use the patterns. All this book contains are patterns and templates. It may come in handy, but it's not inspiring to me. If I found it on a shelf and thumbed through it, I would not purchase it. My 10 cents.

Love all the stitch designs presented in this book. She doesn't teach how to do the stitches, so this is probably not for beginners. She simply show pages and pages of stitch designs to use in crazy quilt seam treatments. As such, it's a terrific book; I just love it! Don't really like how thin the cover is but content more than makes up for it.

This is a wonderful book for beginning crazy quilters like myself. I especially like the templates that the author has developed to make embellishing seams easy for us. You photocopy the template onto transparency material and then punch holes in them so that you can mark the surface you want to embellish. She has also provided wonderful tools for progressing from the simple and ordinary to the complex in developing advanced seam treatments. Kathy Shaw has her own website where she offers some free classes--check it out to see if they will work for you. Highly recommended.

As a devoted crazy quilter, this book is a valuable resource for seam embellishment ideas. However, someone needs to create an extensive resource for crazy quilt motifs to embroider. I have one, but it doesn't provide much related to motifs for the holidays. Anyone interested?

One of the kewlest books I own on this subject. If you can find one ... grab it ... a lot to learn about this subject and this is a great help in that area.Thanks for writing it.
