Craftsmanship is great, but not practical for hot water reheating.
First, I love the quality of the material. The plastic seemed to be like a lacquerware like, typical of a real bento box. The stainless steel is not heavy for a kid but rigid and durable. The spoon is just as great, for it is not easily breakable. When I took it out of the packaging, the lunchbox even had silica gels and plastic lining which you have to cover. The manufacturer put some care into packing the product. The lunchbox is indeed leakproof. So, sending food with gravy or sauce won't be an issue to a kid for it won't spill all over. The size of the compartments are just right as well for a kid's meal. What I don't like is that it could be quite difficult to open for kids below seven or six years. The latches lock on firmly and can be unlocked without trouble, but the issue is when you open the top hood, it takes some effort. I wish there is a tab or something a kid can hold on to or grip, to make the effort less. Also, I had the impression that you can put hot water inside to warm up the food. But I tried putting in water inside the base, and when I assembled it all back in, water came out as I tilted the lunchbox. I did this to simulate the situation when the lunchbox tumbles inside the school bag, when kids run or play while wearing their bag.I also tried putting in hot water but the stainless steel stayed warm for a maximum of half hour. That means my eight year old son would have to find hot water in school and disassemble his lunchbox to pour in the hot water. That is not practical considering their lunch break is something like half hour.I guess I will just use this if the temperature of the food is not critical like sandwiches or fruits. But not for food that is best served warm at least like mashed potato, meat with gravy or sauce.
