Excellent tool for understanding the breed and your dog
Excellent tool for understanding the breed and your dog. My puppy is perfectly trained and carries himself better then any other dogs we meet.

If this book helped you should not own a cane corso
This book was barely cane corso specific. You can tell that they insert different dog names in books to make it look breed specific. If you don't know these things you absolutely should NOT have a cane corso. A lot of cane corso clubs have had dogs surrendered to them due to their owner's inability to handle them. They are a majestic breed and I love them. But they are not for everyone and any responsible human will not get a 90-140 lb dominant dog with strong protection instincts if they don't know how to potty train a dog to begin with. A lot of this information I can put any breed's name in and find it helpful to the first time pet owner. If you find this book helpful DO NOT GET A CANE CORSO. They are dominant dogs that get 90-140 lbs and they will boss you around and take over your entire house if you don't know how to handle such a breed. They are also highly emotional and they take your tone and behavior towards them to heart. Choke chains, pinch collars, and shock collars do not matter to them as they have a high pain tolerance. They are also smarter than you will give them credit for if you don't know what you are doing. My cane corso Roman opened doors and turned on the bathroom faucet at 6 months. They require a lot of land and a good bit of exercise. They need to be socialized with people and other dogs very young and the socialization must be constant. They love kids and small animals if properly bred and trained. Their vet bills are insanely expensive and their upkeep is as well. They will walk through the fire for their people but they have to respect. Anything that Cesar Milan taught you about training goes out the door. They are smart and they will pick up on things as quickly as you can teach them and its not always what you mean to teach them (e.g. my cane corso puppy learning to turn on faucets so he can get a drink of water). If you give them everything that they need, are respectable, and very attune to their emotions this dog will walk through the fire for you. They are a majestic breed but success with them is absolutely dependent on good breeding and an even better owner. My cane corso is my best friend and I couldn't love him more. There...and that was free.

Basic dog training book
It is not really geared toward the Cane Corso. It is really just a generic training book you could just Google and find all of the info. Actually I would bet that is what the author did.

Don't waste your money.
it is a generalization of dogs nothing special about the breed. Dogs like chewy's chapter. Really, I think any dog owner knows this. I bought this book because I wanted to know about the breed, etc. It is like that used the "find and replace" key with the breed's name. Not worth the money. Really disappointed. I

a generic book for any dog writer has no idea about cane corsos
this book is a generic book that seems to be printed and just changes the name of the dog, could be used for any dog and the author just goes into word and uses the replace function to change the name of the dog. author contradicts himself from one chapter to the next and clearly has never even met a cane corso puppy. do not buy this book if you actually want a serious training book specific to the large unique breed of cane corso

Not recommended.
Poorly written. Very little (barely any) specifics about the breed. I had the feeling that this book was written once and publish many times with a different breed in the title, with only the first few pages providing any breed specifics. Better option to buying this book is to search online specifically for Cane Corso.

Disappointing
I wanted to buy a book that would help me to get ready for and later train a Cane Corso I plan to buy, so I am ready for when he gets home.On reading the first few chapters I found that the book was of poor quality, with the covers curling into tube shapes within 2.5 hours.Secondly, I don't know who proof read the book before it went to print, but I suspect it was a lump of coal! The amount of errors is unbelievable. One such error is in Chapter 7. When should you Spay or Neuter your dog. In the chapter text it refers to not "spaying" your dog, but "spraying" your dog.Thirdly, there is no order to the book. It jumps from one subject to the next in no order at all. Example: Chapter 6 crate training, chapter 7 spaying and neutering your dog, chapter 8 potty mistakes, chapter 9 teaching your dog to fetch, chapter 10 easier and healthier feeding of your dog, all the other feeding information is in chapters 30, 31 and 32.Fourthly, chapter 4 is repeated verbatim in chapter 18, even the chapter title is the same. This also occurs with chapters 10 and 32. Another proof reading error in chapters 10 and 32 is in the first line of the chapter. "You can make IS much easier on your Cane Corso when it comes to eating."All the information in this book is general common sense dog information, and there seems to be nothing specifically for any particular breed.I could go on and on quoting all the errors, but I really don't see the point.I have looked at the previews for the other books by this author on different breeds. Except for the breed characteristics chapter, all the books look like they are exactly the same. This, and the factor that at least two of the chapters are doubled, leads me to suspect that these books are cut and paste jobs from other books, and not worth the paper they are printed on!In summary, VERY disappointing!!!!

Very very disappointed.
The English is awful, the grammar not much better. It read terribly. I found it most frustrating trying to read it and come page 28 gave up completely. I would not recommend this book to a single dog owner who is genuinely wanting to learn about training their Cane Corso puppy.
