Skin of a Sinner
Genre/Trope: Dark RomanceBook Type: StandaloneBook Length: NovelPOV: Alternating DualSetting: Near Chicago (I think)Male MC: Roman “Mickey” Riviera was a foster kid raised in terrible conditions and grew up having to fight for everything he had. He meets Bella when he’s 8 (and she’s 6) and immediately develops a life-long connection with her. She is literally his entire world but he disappears for 3 years and returns to her in a violent fury. Roman is 22 and has dark hair and steel-grey eyes.Female MC: Isabella “Bella” Garcia also grew up in foster system after losing her mother. She is a scared, shy little girl that constantly needs protection and Roman provides that to her their entire life, until he leaves mysteriously. Bella is 20 and has long dark hair that she religiously wears in pigtails and brown eyes.Endearment: Princess and BabySpice Level: MediumFrequency of Spice: LowAngst Level: Medium/HighCliffhanger: NoMy Review: I’ll start off by saying that Roman Riviera is the absolute best and I loved him so much! He is strong, brave, protective, insanely devoted to Bella, and everything an unhinged psychopath book boyfriend should be. Bella…not so much. She’s beyond aggravating in her feelings and actions. She needs Roman and he literally does everything in his power for her, to protect her, to save her and to make her happy and she constantly fights him. She feels insecure and acts like she doesn’t reciprocate his feelings when it’s clearly obvious she does, but she plays these wishy-washy games and it broke my heart for Roman. It was so frustrating to see her be that way because he loves her so freaking much and she doesn’t deserve it. The ending all came together quickly and I actually wanted Bella to grovel for a change because she absolutely needed to after she was so awful to Roman. Overall I really did enjoy this story, but honestly it was 100% because of Roman.

7/10
It would’ve been a 10/10 if Bella would’ve just stopped pretending to hate him and being nagging and selfish the whole time. It got to the point where I didn’t want to finish the book because she was so unbearable.

LOVE LOVE LOVE
Absolutely loved this book. I devoured it. 10/10! From the very first page I was hooked. I was worried it wouldn’t end on a happy note for a second lol.

every page is a red flag for better or worse
I’m sure some would love this book. It just wasn’t totally for me I still read every page and the spicy scenes were great. I just couldn’t get into the relationship between the two main characters because of personal experience. But if you like gore and cringy obsessive relationships this is your book.

We seen the red flags…but we love a good circus
An absolutely twisted roller coaster. The highs are over the top, and the lows will drag you deep under the water gasping for air. Such a good read!

OKay
This book was all over the place for me. This was my first time reading this author. Isabella and Roman aka "Bella and Mickey" have been friends since they were children, both growing up in the harshness of the foster system, Mickey becomes Bella's savior, protecting her from bullies, beating up boys who are mean to her and being sweet by looking out for her needs above his own. On Bella's 17th Birthday she kisses Roman, he breaks her heart and disappears for 3 years without a word or trace. Roman comes back for Bella and he isn't afraid to get blood on his hands, by killing her foster father and Brother who abused her for the three years he has been gone and he isn't leaving without Bella in tow. This is where I started having problems with this story if its 3 years later, she's 20 now why didn't she leave? Mickey is a straight up psycho this book reminded me of "Natural Born Killers" I liked Mickey, but he was a confusing character. I didn't like Bella at all she was weak and whiney at times. I felt that the author spent too much time on the backstory for the characters. I liked the past and present that the author was going for, but I felt like I was reading the same chapter twice. The sex scenes were ok, but I wanted to know when did Mickey become a Master? I also thought that it was too long. The book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading more from this author.
