Great!
I used this product for maple butcher block after I came upon rave reviews by someone who had used several different products on wood countertops. I was reluctant to go with Waterlox because I really didn't want a varnished look. Some countertops have soft maple and are hard to seal with mineral oil. I cleaned the wood with Dawn dish soap and wiped it down with the citrus solvent to remove the mineral oil on it, and sanded it lightly, as suggested by the company. This product gave the wood a nice uniform color and seems to protect the wood from food stains really well, much better than mineral oil. I did notice that it will leave white spots when it gets wet until it has cured for 2-3 weeks. I just wiped on a little more and it was fine. It goes really far, a quart size would be good. The company is great, answers the phone promptly, ships quickly, and is very helpful with any questions.

Amazing product, Easy To Work With.
This is awesome. I used both the citrus solvent with the dark tung oil mixture, and this "Dark Half" product. The result is they are equal in every way. The "Dark Half" is straight out of the bottle. The smell of the "Dark Half" is pleasant, slightly piney and clean (yet strong), it is not as over powering as the citrus. You will need windows open if you are doing a large project like a floor. This is exceedingly easy to work with. I went from raw pine to a rich, dark, seasoned looking floor in 3 coats, it really amazed me. I was a bit nervous about how dark the second coat would make the floor look after I finished the first coat. The floor in subsequent coats did not really get darker, just deeper and richer looking. I worked my way across the room in 3 foot widths, applied, waited 40 minutes, wiped (make sure you have lots of rags, old bed sheets worked best) and did the next section from wall to wall. The 40 minute wait before wiping allows a nice fresh air break. It is very easy to work with and very forgiving if you overlap at all when applying the next section, I waited between 24 to 36 hours between coats, the results were well worth the effort.

Not sold on the product
Do not let the square footage fool you. I did two counters, one 10’, one 6’. Used almost a gallon. I’m not sure the product is as advertised. I did not want to use poly or Dutch oil. If they hold up I’ll change my review. Really weird grey spots on the counters too. They said it’s dry there, but I don’t really buy into their responses.

Fantastic oil for wood wall
Very good product. Looks dark out of the jug but was not dark on the pine. Takes a lot of the “yellow” color out and really showcases the different colors in the grain. Highly recommend.

Super intense smell
This product is great on wood and I really loved the finish and look, but the fumes and smell were unbelievably strong. I tested a few ounces of dark half (as opposed to the raw Tung Oil which needs to be cut with solvent) in a ventilated basement and the odor penetrated through all three floors of the house for days. I thoroughly rinsed the rag I used to apply the finish and then dropped it in the washing machine by itself, and the rag still emits a potent odor than can be detected from 15 to 20 feet outdoors. This product is so intense that I would honestly consider using it to deter predatory animals or crazy people. I’m not sure whether to fear or appreciate its potency, but I do respect it, and I don’t want it in my house.
