I have just had new blinds installed in our conservatory, and they came with those childproof hooks on the cords which are supposed to be drilled into the wooden frame. As I didn't want these, my blind company suggested I buy blind weights from Amazon to keep the cords tight. Having searched a lot of companies I chose these as they are heavier than most.I am glad I read the reviews first as I would never have known how to fix them. Thanks to the people who warned that you have to make sure the weights are at the bottom before you try to push in the side buttons. Even so, they are tough to get the tops off and I found I had to use a little knife to lever it off. After the first few it was easier, and they work a treat on the blinds now that they are in place. I needed 7 and so have 3 as spares.Well worth it.

These were incredibly difficult to separate to install, but once installed fine. Initially I could only open one or two to install (pressing the side lugs in, to separate) - many could not be opened as the side lugs wouldn't move, however, it would appear the trick to take them apart is to first shake them and ensure the weight is at the bottom (many of mine had the weight stuck at the top (which I didn't realize at the beginning), which meant the side lugs couldn't be pressed in to open). Once the weight was sat at the bottom, the side lugs could be easily pressed in and unit opened to hook around cord.

For something that hangs next to a sun blind, the fact that the plastic goes brittle with exposure to UV is a big design fail. They are quite cheap, so a two or three year lifespan isn’t too bad but simply choosing a UV resistant plastic would make them perfect.Easy to install. Remember to recycle the metal core when replaced.

My new vertical blinds came with childproof clips for the cords and chains. These weren't suitable so I had to buy the weights separately. These arrived very quickly and suited both the cord pull and the plastic chain adjusters. On a couple of these the internal weight had moved in the housing. This was easy to shake to the bottom to allow removal of the clip and insert of the cord/chain.

Replaced all old with new very good quality
