This is a good hand plane.
Pros: it works mostly well right out of the box. How? Here’s how: • the iron is sharp enough to pop hairs. • it’s almost perfectly flat heel to toe (flat enough for 99% of people and the other 1% know how to get it perfectly flat which took less than an hour). • all of the adjustments work nice and move smoothly. • the chip breaker sits flush on the iron with no daylight between the two. Other pros: The iron is a good quality steel and the adjustment screws (stainless steel), the body/sole are nicely cast, and the handle/knob are beechwood which will last for a long time with the rest of the plane. It’s pretty affordable. Besides old Stanley’s, I have not found a hand plane under $100 that actually works or can even become functional with fine tuning. Harbor freight, Home Depot, Lowe’s, and Menards were all extremely expensive or cheap trash that will never work no matter how much you try to fix the issues. Lastly the adjustable mouth opening makes this plane extremely versatile. It says smoothing plane which you can use it as such, but you can also open the mouth up and adjust the cut depth for more roughing in work. Cons: It is somewhat heavy for its size. Also for a SMOOTHING plane it won’t work quite right for you out of the box because the irons edge is cut straight corner to corner. For a smoothing plane especially, you want to round the edge so the corners are maybe 1/64th of an inch behind the rest of the edge. That way they don’t cut and you don’t get lines on your surface.

Arrived new, quality product works as described
After using a Jorgensen Pony portable work bench and Clamps, really liking their quality built, decided to get my first hand planer from them: - Arrived new and flawless as it should - Well packaged with reusable molded plastic top and bottom which allows safe keep after every use - Bottom bench is perfectly flat and squared - Works as described with very sharp blade - Within minutes of incremental adjustments, I went from 1st time using a hand planer to be able to shave super thin sheets of wood, amazingly satisfying :) Final words: a must have for anyone getting into woodworking.

Great value for a respectable tool.
I purchased several of these Jorgeson planes to be able to leave them on job sites where I might not want to leave Nielsen Planes or older Stanley I was pleasantly surprised there was no deflection on the soul. The blade came very sharp. It’s a tremendous value. If you don’t want to spring for some of the higher and planes or if they’re unavailable, this plane is very much suitable for most work. I have had a cabinet shop and restoration furniture shop for about 50 years so have a fairly good understanding of hand planes, and how they operate, and I would consider buying this at any level of a woodworker that you might be.

Jorgensen produces good quality tools
I debated about whether to keep it or not. The tote is annoyingly loose-just enough to bother me. However the iron takes and holds its edge, and the frog and body are solidly made. I like the way it works, especially with my shooting board. I think I can solve its only problem by somehow shimming the tote’s mounting screw.

I love this product too from Jorgensen
The orange color is attractive. In a woodworking shop, having colorful tools improve the environment. 😁 Well machined product. Adjustment mechanisms are easy to handle precisely. A solid heavy plane that is a pleasure to work with.

Very good plane for the money
I gave this plane 5 stars for several reasons. The price was competitive with most low end No. 4 planes. The plane arrived in good shape. The packaging was acceptable. It's probably the 'cleanest' No. 4, low budget plane I've ever purchased. The blade is good quality. Typical of planes in this price range, tuning is required. The blade has a typical 25 degree grind that has to be polished, and the rest of the plane needs to be checked as you typically would for flatness and square. Aside from sharpening, my plane arrived in very good shape, meaning the frog was flat and adjusted, the sole was flat, the body was square, the blade clamp was flat. The take-up or play in the blade depth adjustment knob is consistent with mid-price range planes, let alone low cost models like this one. All in all, I gave it 5 stars because, for the money, it's literally as good as any of my $200-300 dollar planes, and didn't require any more tuning than those did.

Blade
Looks good , seams to be made well . Only concern is the blade , would recommend using a higher carbon material . Other than that , it work's great .
