**Q: When i add the two new 8gb sticks, can i keep the original two 4gb sticks in place for a total of 24gb of memory? installing in 2013 imac.**
A: Yes, you can add these two new 8gb sticks and keep the original two 4gb sticks for a total of 24gb of memory if you’re referring to iMac 14,2 (27-inch Late 2013). 
However, if you’re referring to iMac 14,3 / iMac14,1 (21.5-inch Late 2013) or iMac 13,3 (21.5-inch Early 2013), then you can only have 16GB in total as there are only two slots.
