Almost
I am currently rating items starting at a 4 for works as expected, and then removing a star for functionality that is missing, has flaws, or is misrepresented in the advert. It doesn't meet my definition of a repeater, and is misconfiguring network settings. Hence this items is receiving a 3.Strictly my definition of a repeater, would be something that continues the same configuration on. In the situation of this device, by default they do not repeat the same wireless name, but instead append a plus to the end of it. This would fit the definition of an extender, whereby the reach of the wifi is extended to a new access point that your device needs to explicitly be configured and switch to. There is no automated way that I can see from the instructions (or playing with it) to get this device to act as a repeater (which is what I feel most people will want and will have seen in the title as the reason to purchase).(there is a school of thought that repeaters cause network connections to drop out when you move from one access point to another, this is normally down to poor switch configuration and not updating the MAC entries correctly as a device moves, it isn't necessarily the repeater's fault). The device actually supports bridge mode, whereby the WiFi is copied/bridged directly on to the wired network without any network translation. This is actually of use to me, but it isn't an advertised feature, or common for most households so the device isn't winning an extra star.Unfortunately the reason for the device losing a star in my opinion, is that it is not copying the network settings correctly, and is thus misconfiguring the items that attach to it. On my network I have a device which is configured to perform the Domain Name Services or translations from human to IP addresses. This device is not the router of my test network. When I went through the setup to attach this extender, it has misconfigured itself, believing that the router is acting as the Domain Name Server, and ignored the DHCP/automated configuration that is being sent to the extender. This has resulted in any device that attaches to the extender not to be able to access the internet. This error in the devices firmware could of course be fixed by a firmware update, but due to the error the device cannot access the internet in order to check for an update, and has masked itself from being able to be able to access administrative commands.

Worked well with our talktalk router.
Easy to install, took a while to stabilise the signal but now works well, no more drop outs and less waiting for pages to load.

A doddle to set up and really makes a big difference to your WiFi coverage
Like most people our WiFi router is where the phone line comes into the house. That means that we have a good signal at the front of our bungalow but it gets progressively worse the further away we get. We had some building work done a few years ago and we swapped the bedrooms and the living room/kitchen around. The lounge with the phone line is now a bedroom. That means that the part of the house where we spend most time has the worst WiFi coverage. We’ve never bothered to connect the aerial on the roof to the back of the house so we just watch television via an Amazon fire stick. My grandchildren love to watch stuff when they’re visiting and it’s become a nuisance when the signal drops half way through a film.I had the fortune to be offered this amplifier to test and review, so I jumped at the opportunity to see if it would make a difference. It’s dramatically improved the whole experience of streaming programmes on the television and I wish I’d got one ages ago.It was an absolute doddle to set up and involved pressing a button on the router and then doing the same thing on the booster once it was plugged in. It connected straight away and very quickly the WiFi light on it stopped blinking and that was that.It comes up on your device with the same name as the router but with a couple of extra symbols and words. All you need to do is connect to that as if it was another router and you’re sorted. It uses the same password as your original router so you don’t have any other setup to do.For the money I think it’s an excellent investment and I’d have been more than happy to pay £30 for the massive improvement it’s made to our WiFi connection.

Relatively simple set-up but 2.4ghz only
If you have a house with a lot of devices, please check which can and can't be hooked up to this because it's 2.4ghz only - you may find that some of your devices [connected appliances, kids toys, wifi cameras] may to work anymore or lose connection as it switches from one to another.
