In post-World War II Venice, Poirot, now retired and living in his own exile, reluctantly attends a seance. But when one of the guests is murdered, it is up to the former detective to once again to uncover the killer. Review: Probably My Favourite Venice Movie.. A Film of Incredible Atmosphere! - Well... I absolutely loved this movie. Firstly, the staggering attention to detail... It has incredible amounts of rich, aesthetically-pleasing moments and glances. The movie almost consists of one delightful painting after the other, like a gallery! One delightful moment after the other, like a Bellini opera! Guaranteed visual pleasure... I will also praise the wonderful atmosphere cleverly created with the help of probably the most atmospheric city in the world: Venice. The cast is very suiting to the story and relatable. The fact that Poirot appears to have lost his faith adds extra depth. For a moment we think there probably are ghosts, then we say no way! Just like Poirot does! A very rich and rewarding film indeed. I know, this is one of those movies I get emotionally attached to and watch again and again. Review: Watchable - Not too bad

Excellent movie, problematic DVD
Scary movie. Saw it first at the cinema. This DVD wouldn't play properly and I had to persevere over a couple of days. The constant "freezing" spoilt the momentum.

not as good as the previous Poirot
not a patch on Murder on the Orient Express, it was just OK

Thrilling & sumptuous.
Like Kenneth Branagh other 2 Agatha Christie movies, this one does disappoint in thrills or lavish looks. Despite, I believe, not being base on one Agatha Christie book, the film certainly has the feeling of a proper mystery from this peerless Author. My family (wife and our 2 sons of 25 & 21 years of age) and I really enjoyed a well crafted and acted film.

good plot line - typical Agatha Christie
Good film, well acted - but will anyone else ever be Poirot now that I am so used to David Suchet? Is the Palazzo haunted, or just inhabited by an evil person? Plenty of intrigue and false leads as one would expect from the mistress of crime fiction, but the total darkness of the scenes was a bit too much, I like to be able to see what is going on.

a clueless movie
venice hardly features, the dialogue is mumbling througout bad sound editting you need subtitles to work out what kenneth brannagh is saying behind the nighty moustache and fake belgian accent. its a bore from beginning to end and only loosely based on the agatha christie novel a halloween party it should be inspired by in a copycat fashion but done in a very shoddy way. if you enjoyed orient express and death on nile dont bother with this its the weakest of the trilogy by far

Good movie, decent presentation
As an Agatha Christie fan, I liked the first Kenneth Branagh, Murder on the Orient Express, hated the Death on the Nile, but really like this one. It has almost nothing in common with the book upon which it is based but if you take it as a colorful fantasy version of a Christie story, it's a lot of fun, and nicely creepy. The cinematography is absolutely gorgeous. Being a Christie style, it's not fast moving and flashy which I think a lot of people don't like about it. As a person whose watched all the David Suchet TV series, this is very well done with an attempt to make Poirot more three-dimensional and human, which can be good or bad. Most of the cast is very solid and the plot moves along well enough. DVD has no extras but the BluRay has a short making of documentary which is interesting but really not long. There are extras but not tons, however I found them enjoyable too. Copy is clear (very important as the film is extremely dark on purpose), sound a little muddy in that music is loud, voices are soft (typical anymore). Overall, a great Halloween film.

Great movie
Saw movie in theater and was so impressed, as with all the others from this series, that I had to buy the blu-ray. Took awhile to arrive because it came from England. Don't know why no local to USA warehouses didn't stock it, but movie is great!

Couldn't get this elsewhere
I loved this movie and know I will want to rewatch many times in future years. Unfortunately shows sometimes disappear form Streaming services, so I still like to have a DVD to be sure I can watch it when I want. I couldn't find this DVD from my usual store, so was glad to find it on Amazon. I wondered if it would work in my DVD player, and was relevied to find that it does.
