Perfect Upgrade for the Surface Pro 8
Upgrading to a Gen4 PCIE offers double the data rates of the Gen3 drive that came in my Surface Pro 8. No power issues either. No dropouts, reboots, or BSOD issues that seem too common in so many "upgrades". I used an external but M.2 holder through a USB-C port, and cloned the installed drive to the Corsair in the holder. I used the clone function that's part of my backup software suite (Aomei Backupper Pro) but there's nothing that almost any decent drive cloning software should do the job. Several instructions suggest that a 'new' installation and reinstall applications is the way to go. I thought I'd try cloning, as I can do another backup and a 'new' installation anytime if needed. This Corsair drive is an easy and exact fit in the M.2 2230 drive bay in the Surface PRO 8. Like many, I bought a 256GB Surface, and planned to do the storage upgrade myself after purchase. The choices in M.2 2230 drive was slim though, an many users reported power related issues that include marginal operation especially under battery power. Recovery from sleep mode is mentioned a lot in online user reports, with reboots and 'blue screen of death' reports too common with several otherwise-popular choices. When I saw the lower power consumption for the Corsair drive, and several positive results from other users, it popped to the top of my candidate list. When I saw it with a 30% discount I decided to pull the trigger. I couldn't be more satisfied. I will relate one very minor 'hitch' in the install process, and that was my foolish assumption that I already had the tiny Torx driver needed to get the hold-down screw loose. Turns out I didn't, so I had to wait for a Torx driver set via Prime to make the actual swap. I've swapped several cellphone screens and batteries and those often come with toolkits, but none in the correct size. Now I have a very nice full set. Search "38Pcs Precision Screwdriver Set, Tool Kit with Security Torx T5 T6 T8 T9, Triwing Y00, Star P5, etc, Repair for Ring Doorbell, Laptop, Switch, PS4, Xbox, Macbook, iPhone, Watch, Glasses, etc" here on Amazon and you'll find the tools I used, and it's a very nice and complete set for less than $10 as I type. So -- East upgrade with 4x the capacity and 2x the performance, uses less battery, no compatibility issues at all, low cost, plus a painless cloning, couldn't be much easier. Plus an easy excuse to add to my tool collection. ;) Highly Recommended!

Amazing Drive in a Small Package
What can I say? Absolutely bargain for the Steam Deck. I got this little drive during a sale, which was great. This drive is the BEST in the market for upgrading your Deck. This drive is insanely fast and temps are nice and cool. Highly recommend this for those that have gaming handheld PCs, very thin laptops (mainly gaming laptops such as Razer, Asus, etc..) The drive has been working very well and have not had any issues, so I know it is very solid.

Works perfectly on my Lenovo Legion GO
I bought it to upgrade the storage on my Lenovo Legion Go, and so far it's worked perfectly. However, you do need a 2230 to 2242 adapter, since the device is smaller than the one the Legion Go requires. The storage capacity is as expected. The speeds are good. I haven't had any issues with temperatures, reboots, compatibility, or system crashes. So far, everything is fine. Highly recommended.

Good for Steam Deck
Bought this as an upgrade/replacement for the default 256gb that came in the lowest model Steam Deck. I popped it open and replaced it myself. There were a few additional software steps to take to format it, but overall it was super easy and fast to do. It’s been useful for having more space to play games on the go and I highly recommend to anyone wanting to do the same to their Steam Deck.

Not all memory is created equal
I had been struggling for months trying to upgrade the memory in my Surface Pro 8. Online videos make it easy to install and reinstall windows, but my pc kept crashing. Sometimes it would boot up with no issues, but overall was unstable. This SSD from Corsair solves all those issues. It just works, beautifully. I also notice an increase in battery life almost 20%. If you are looking to upgrade a Surface Pro, THIS is the SSD you should be using. The specs may look the same, but not all memory is created equal. 10/10.

Excellent performance so long as you don't fill it beyond about 75~80%
I didn't realize when I bought this that the 2 TB version is QLC while the 1 TB version is TLC. QLC has downsides over TLC - with the primary being that write performance degrades significantly the more full the drive becomes. TLC does as well but not to the same extent. At ~90% used I was getting 100~150 megabytes per second writes. This may not sound awful - but pathing Baldur's Gate 3 on my Steam Deck took something like a half hour at this speed. At ~90% used on a TLC drive I still get 1,000+ megabytes/second. Patching Baldur's Gate 3 takes only a few minutes at this speed. Had I realized this - I would have gotten a TLC drive instead for the $20~50 more. That said I don't feel like returning this drive / doing a swap / ordering a new drive / etc - so I've just shrunk the partition on the drive leaving ~25% unpartitioned/free to ensure that performance remains higher. So I could have spent $20~50 more and gotten my full 2 TB at high speed, I could have saved $100 and gotten the 1 TB version and kept my high speed, but my ignorance means I paid $200 for 1.5 TB of effectively usable high-speed storage since write speeds are important to me personally from the patching/updating standpoint where I could have spent $100 and gotten a 1 TB drive without this issue. Granted on a gaming device like a Steam Deck or ROG Ally - 100~150 megabyte/sec writes is fine as it's largely a read load - but I just got tired of waiting forever for things to update/patch. Oh! I almost forgot the second downside - QLC drives have significantly shorter lifespans / can handle significantly less writes overall before they 'die'. So not only do I have to leave free space on the drive for performance - but the drive itself will not last as long as it would have otherwise if it were TLC. TL;DR 1 TB is TLC, 2 TB is QLC - if you plan on filling the drive up and update/patch speed and drive longevity is important to you - go for the 1 TB TLC, or get a different 2 TB drive that's TLC instead of QLC.

I am using this device inside a UGREEN M.2 NVMe Enclosure Adapter to back up my server and to be able to access that backed-up data from a Raspberry Pi 5. The Pi 5 required me to have this small form-factor and I needed 2 TB to fit the backups onto. The NVMe Enclosure Adaptor comes with a sponge with double sided tape to lock the NVMe in place, but as I am swapping it out to a Raspberry Pi, I did not remove the sticky tape covers from the sponge. The back-up onto this NVMe was extremely quick when compared to my previous arrangement of external USB drives. I highly recommend it.
