Last well and super comfy
Having just replaced these with the moab 3 I thought I'd give a review of their whole life not just the first wear. These were comfy and roomy from first wear. Roomy enough for me to be able to put my custom arch supports in. And dont squash or pinch around or above the toes. Those that just need a shoe with good support should get these. The inbuilt arch support should be good enough for most but I need extra and there's plenty of room with out removing padding or changing how to lace up.They're waterproof and have remained waterproof through the 800+ miles of wear through road, mud, long grass, village tracks and gravel and beach use. I walk approx 4 miles a day on the school run and then school holiday jaunts around the countryside with the family with the majority on typical rural village without footpaths tracks so can be covered in any sort of field or farm vehicle deposits. The tred is still OK for a while longer, see pic of new moab3 vs old moab 2, although obviously worn. The interior fabric is still pretty much intact with only a small hole by the heel where I've been lazy this month and slipping them off knowing I need a new pair.Outer fabric, as mentioned, has remained waterproof, has become grubby, as expected, but is still in good condition. It also doesn't and hasn't ever smelt. Which is good because I've had other brands that take on the aroma of mud etc and stink the hallway out.Only issue is, and i've found it across all merrell shoes and boots, is that the area where your toe bends become stretched and crinkled overtime and I've noticed that this is around the time I need to replace them as my feet begin to ache and my arches are more sore for longer. Which is probably around the 600 mile mark. This for me feels like the snug supportiveness of the shoe is beginning to break down/padding becoming compressed etc. Whilst the shoe is still comfortable it really doesn't feel as supportive or padded as a new one, but that's the same with any make.Others without dodgy flat feet like me may not have this problem so could probably wear them for far longer, until the tred disappears.Overall these shoes are fab value for the comfort and longevity and I will never buy any other brand!

Best pair of walking shoes for comfort
After trying and returning several other well known brands of walking shoe I bought these having had good Merrells before. They didn't disappoint. Very comfortable walking shoes that mould to your foot and support my toe that has arthritis due to an injury. I walk in these two or three times a day so they get plenty of use and a year later they are still going strong although starting to look abit worn. The waterproofing was brilliant to start with and has lasted well, although as time has gone on they have lost most of the original waterproofing and without reapplying it they were leaking badly. Re-waterproofing them has helped with this so now they are just slowly wearing out. Would definitely buy again.

Looks good but......
This is my fourth pair of Merrells, second pair of MOAB, the first with GTX and Vibrim soles. I've had them 6 days. Reading the reviews I knew to expect them to be stiffer. Unlike previous pairs they were not at all comfortable straight out of the box. The sole lacks any suppleness, the foot bed does not have the same arch support as I'm used to, the toe box is very wide and I have a D fitting foot in shoes. The tongue is cut short so lacing is further down my foot than I would like and dirt etc will be able to get in - it also means tightening the heal area of the shoe isn't easy. The worst thing is the tongue has the same material right through to the edge which means it folds on itself and is bulky which presses on my arch, as that is where one lace crosses over.18 mile in, thicker socks, re-lacing one shoe to skip the crossing over of the lace, adding arch support and I'm getting used to them. They are waterproof as I've walked through wet grass in a light shower but also accidently sprayed my feet with the garden hose.Edit I've added an extra star as once I'd completed a few more miles they have become more flexible and comfortable to wear.

So far so good
Bought for walking the dog in woodland and country paths. They were a bit stiff to start with but with one wear were comfortable and didnt give me any rubbing. I have worn thick socks with these so got half size up than I normally wear. So far after a month of wearing, they are appearing to be waterproof my feet have stayed warm and dry. Ive just bought the boot version as well for when it gets really muddy and wet.Hopefully they will last a while

Comfortable, wide-fitting shoes
I bought these shoes for my wife. She prefers wide fitting walking shoes because she has had problems with corns with many brands. She often chooses Meindle but she chose these Merrel shoes because of the stated wide fitting. The availability of half sizes is also a bonus. She is usually 5, but decided to try a half size up. The first notable thing about them was that they were easy to put on out of the box - not always the case with many walking shoes. The fit is comfortably wide and perfect with thick walking socks, but a loose in ordinary thin socks. She has worn them every day since she had them, mostly in wet weather. They are waterproof so far, but that will change with wear and tear as the shoes age - I don't know why people make such a big fuss about that. They look good. No complaints so far.

Merrell Hikers for Every day use
Accurate description, the 3rd pair -- I've had over the years, I was happy to find this seller so I could replace my favorite shoes. The only think I slightly disliked is they are slightly darker than my previous worn out ones. But it was a terrific deal and great seller! They do last and take every day wearing for over 5 yrs or more. Your feet stay dry until you wear them to the point of tearing them, they have great traction and offer great support. I didn't even think about whether they were breathable or not so I can't comment on that. They fit me right out of the box and felt comfortable needing very little breaking in.

One of the best shoes I have ever worn!
"MOAB" stands for "Mother of all hiking boots" according to Merrell. They really aren't kidding. I even wear these as a daily work shoe in addition to hiking. I work in the medical field and spend a lot of time on my feet and these shoes are incredibly comfortable and versatile. They also last a long time without showing excessive wear. My pair just recently developed cracks in the toe leather. I was surprised until I looked and realized I had been wearing them nearly 18 mo. That's a long time for a pair of shoes that get a lot of wear. I have had high end gym shoes show more wear after 6 mo. with the same use. These are expensive but you get your money's worth and your feet will be comfy and happy!!!

Comfortable and nice looking
I didn't think I'd really like the shoes due to color mostly....When I put them on I loved them. Look classy and very comfortable.
