Merino Protect Merino Wool Underwear Men Odor Resistant Boxer Briefs Moisture Wicking Shorts for Long Hiking Flights

These are really great boxer briefs with a caveat that I can't quite justify knocking off a star for. When I first bought them I was thrilled with how they didn't hold odors, similar to other merino clothes I have. That held true for almost 2 years. Additionally the boxer briefs are very comfortable and have held up remarkably well with no holes or unravelling threads, so I've been very satisfied.Unfortunately recently, the waistbands started to smell really badly of body odor, even after rewashing. No way I could wear them with this stink. I wear these for everyday use and exercise, so I definitely work up a sweat in them, so it’s not too shocking. I think the problem stems from the fact that the bands are (I assume) synthetic material while the rest of the material is merino wool. Wool requires gentle washing and that's just not enough to pull body odor out of whatever the band fibers are, once it gets stuck in there.I will share the following in case anyone else has the same odor issues. This week I tried soaking them in a bucket with a vinegar solution for a couple hours followed by washing. That maybe helped a little, but they still smelled strongly of body odor, plus vinegar. I then tried a baking soda solution soak followed by a wash, which removed the vinegar smell, but the body odor persisted. At this point I figured I had nothing to lose, so I soaked the briefs in a bucket with a scoop of oxi booster powder for a couple hours and that removed the odor completely! It surely removed some of the dye because the water was pretty dark, but they're underwear, so not a big deal to me. I assume I probably did some damage to the wool fibers, since every recommendation out there says not to use oxi booster on wool, but at least I can wear them again.In summary, these are good underwear and you'll probably get good usage out of them if you care for them (gentle wash plus line dry). If they get bad, try an oxi booster soak to give them new life. No idea how much longer they will last from here, but if I don’t update my review in the future, assume the results were acceptable.

Temperature-regulating, odor-resistant and surprisingly comfortable all day long. Once you go merino you don't go back.

So far so good. I’ve had them for a couple months, and they definitely stack up in comfort and quality to Minus33, Smartwool, etc. If you want merino wool boxer briefs, for the money, these are tough to beat.I usually wear long underwear through the winter here in Chicago, and I’ve discovered that if I wear merino wool, as opposed to cotton, briefs, I’m happier at the end of the day ha.

After 18 washes the fabric began pilling. No fly up front. Comfy nice and enjoyable but lack endurance.

I`m probably going to get rid of most of my poly based boxer briefs. These wool underwear are better in every way. They don`t absorb moisture so they stay dry and don`t get clammy. They resist odor really well. They temperature regulate nicely... not to hot. Fit is snug without being tight. Not having a fly is nice because there are fewer seams and no overlapping layers.

I love these for work. Keeps my skin dry all day even in the hot sun.

These are great! Very comfortable for long trips. They maintain their shape and size through the wash. Cold water.
