The book could have done with some better Proof reading before it was published
My wife bought this book for me last Christmas. The beauty of this autobiographical war story is the fact that it doesn't go overboard with all the political stuff, a lot of books about the Dhofar War get bogged down with the why's and wherefores. The author, David C Arkless, simply gives the reader details about his service as an RCT (Royal Corps of Transport) Air Dispatcher flying resupply missions over Southern Dhofar. The book isn't all about throwing stuff out of the back of Skyvan aircraft on resupply missions either, there's a lot about missions on the ground which includes a visit to the famous SAS BATT House in Mirbat. The book could have done with some better Proof reading before it was published, but none the less, a great read. Nil Sin Labor.

Air Dispatcher's War
Tells the story of the Dhofar War from the point of view of an Air Dispatcher. Lots of genuine interesting personal experience at the individual soldier level, but no in-depth analysis of the causes of the war nor of the Sultan's strategy that achieved final victory, nor of the tactics at Company level.
