Good Socks at This Price Point
These socks are made well, stitching is good, nice and clean with no fraying or stray threads after roughly a week of hiking and washing. I line dried mine so I do not know if they shrink in the dryer or not but I assume they will as most socks do. They are not quite a light weight sock but they are also not a heavy sock. I would call it a midweight sock with nice cushioning, very comfy around the house as well as on the trail in a pair of hiking boots for 8 hours a day. I hope they hold up and last. Fit is good so far. I generally wear an 11.5 and hate when socks shrink and get tight around my foot over time so I went with the 13-15 and they are super comfy and not loose at all. Would I buy them again? Yep, but lets see after 6-12 months.

Good quality socks & a great value
I was looking for good merino wool work boot socks that were light weight for summer use. I had purchased a very well known brand, but they didn't fit right. I chose Ballston because they are an American brand & offered socks with a much higher merino wool content(81%) at a great price. I was not disappointed! The socks are comfy & well cushioned. They also fit true to size, snug without being too tight. The higher merino wool content is also noticeable. At the end of a long day my feet are not as sweaty & stinky as they were with the old cotton socks I used to use! I will definitely purchase Ballston socks again!

One season only
All I wear are merino socks. Light weight for summer and medium for fall and winter. None of them last more than one season due to heels wearing out. Haven’t had any problems with the toes. I have bought two sets of socks this past year and all have holes in the heels. They are extremely comfortable and if the heel wear was better I’d give them 5+. Cool in summer and warm enough in winter. I live in NC mountains and it says pretty chilly after summer.

Low quality socks - UPDATED REVIEW - GREAT SOX
Not a quality sock. They almost appear to be seconds. The stitching shows thru at the seams and fibers on the sole are starting to fray after just one day of wear. I can already see they won’t last thru this winter season. UPDATE- I’ve worn these socks daily since I received them. They are without a doubt the most comfortable socks in my drawer. They stay soft after washing and aren’t wearing thru like I initially thought. Just remember to air dry them and never machine dry or you’ll end up with doll clothes. I’ll be buying more. I review again after the winter season. UPDATE 2 - still the most comfortable Sox in my drawer but not durable. The bottoms near the ball of the foot wear thru in one season. I will still buy more for next winter as I feel $25 for 3 pairs are worth the comfort even if I only get one winter out of them.

Hypoallerenic all day all rounder
I have very sensitive skin and have gone through a lot of different socks to find one that suits me. These socks are cool in the summer and keep me very warm in the winter. They keep sweat away from the skin and still allow my foot to breathe. I wear these with hiking boots, running shoes, casual loafers and dress shoes and have never had one complaint. They are a little pricey, however I have never found another merino wool blend this good at this price. I recently replaced all the socks in my drawer with just a dozen pairs of these beauties and I haven't regretted it for one second. I would strongly recommend these to anyone who is fighting a battle against angry skin who is looking for a good sock they can wear all day.

Great for everyday use and light hiking
I bought these socks for everyday use with frequent dog walking and occasional light hiking. I am usually sensitive to wool but I was able to wear these socks as a single layer all day (on multiple days) without any itching or irritation. They stayed up well and only showed minimal pilling after several days of wearing, walking and washing. They are thicker than cotton athletic socks and have nice cushioning. They also have a very soft liner. The socks did not feel noticeably warm in warm weather but felt comfortably warm in cold weather. I will definitely be buying more of these socks.

A very good value for the money.
They’re comfortable and thick. I think they’re generally good quality. I’m not sure they last as long as some more expensive ones, but given that they cost a fraction of those other ones, I think the value is better with these than an REI or other brands I’ve had.

look good, feel good
They fit perfectly, look good, feel good, and stay up pretty well also. I wanted lightweight wool socks that would not make all my shoes and boots feel too tight (like my heavyweight wool socks do), and these are just right. I hope to be able to wear them year-round as they do not make my feet feel hot in my shoes like cotton blend socks do. So far there's been no shrinkage. I turn them inside out to wash, and let them air dry overnight. Being wool they actually air dry pretty quickly. I hear Ballston may launch these in ankle length soon, which will be perfect for sneakers this summer. Can't wait! I highly recommend this product and this company. I'll buy from them again.

BEST wool socks out there. wear every day. feel the love.
Never had a problem with quality, any colour washes out to normal. They're wool AND they got the thickness of a normal sock. Dreamland. Daily Driver. Can't say enough good things.
