5 Original Albums

This bare bones box set of 5 classic Herbie Hancock CDs was perfect to help me fill in a huge gap in my Hancock collection. Each album comes in a replica cardboard slipcase. Artwork is nice but small text is hard to read. Each of these CDs mirror the original releases, hence no 'alternate take' bonus tracks are included. In addition to the 5 CDs featured in this box, you WILL need to also purchase classic 'Empyrean Isles" (1964) & 'Maiden Voyage' (1965) for a more complete experience. All in all, this slim box set looks great and saves space on my shelf. The music is truly essential.....Buy this yesterday!!!

This is a fantastic collection of Herbie Hancock material spanning several moods and years with excellent bandmates too numerous to mention......all greats. Five CDs at a great price......just get it. The only drawback is that the sleeves are just simple cardboard (as expected) and the liner notes are so SMALL that you have to be 12 years old, and even then you would need your reading glasses AND a magnifying lens to read them. A good buy nevertheless. Highly recommended.

I bought this as I wanted to learn about jazz, and picking one of the greats like Herbie Hancock seemed like a good place to start. I was really blown away. I think Takin' Off is flat out one of the best albums I've listened to - actually made me stop, and just sit, and listen. The collection is helping me learn how to listen to jazz and appreciate the artistry. The packaging is fantastic. The price point is great. You don't need to be a hard core jazz fan to appreciate this collection, so don't be intimidated - you'll be glad you took a chance and you might just discover you had a jazz fan in you just waiting to come out!

Jazz fans an curious onlookers will know; can't lose with Hancock albums‼

So if you have one classic-period Herbie Hancock album it will be _Maiden Voyage_, and if you're on the adventurous side you might have _Empyrean Islands_. So someone clever figured, "we'll leave out those two and package all his other essential sixties output." What you wind up with is an awesome, is-it-really-this-cheap-no-way album set. Four of the albums are five-star classics and chock full of songs that are now standards. The last one, _The Prisoner_, isn't up to those lofty standards, but plenty interesting in its own right. So pick this up (but you'll still need _Maiden Voyage_).

Picked this up recently as I don't have recorded Herbie under his own name. VSOP is one of my favorites as is Maiden Voyage. This helped me flesh out a good bit of his early work at a very reasonable price. Well worth it.

5 underbara plattor med herr Hancock till ett förmånligt pris. Original omslag där gamlingar kan behöva förstoringsglas att läsa baksidestexten med, men vad gör det när man har en såpass underbar musik att lyssna till.
