Works every time.
It’s a trusty pen that works whenever I use it. I like the novelty of having several rulers, a level and changeable screw driver bits. I won’t be using those unless I find myself in a MacGiver situation. The brass will patina well and looks good on my drafting table.

Nice pen but no ink cartridge included
It looks and feels like a very nice, sturdy pen and I love the extras, like the level and screwdriver, but I was a little disappointed that I couldn’t try out the pen right away, because no ink cartridge was included, even though it states that it should in the description. I tried Monteverde cartridges and the mini converter and nothing fits! If I can't get this to work I may have to return it. UPDATE: Actually, there was a cartridge included but it was stuck in the barrel and I had quite a bit of trouble removing it. I finally got everything to work (thanks to YouTube how-to's) and am really happy with the pen, but I'm still only giving it 4 stars because for me (I have arthritis in my hands) it's still difficult to change the cartridge.

It's fine. Could be a lot better for the price.
Contrary to other reviews, the cartridge wasn't stuck in the barrel. I suspect those people didn't realize that the nib assembly needs to be pulled out. The nib screws out of the assembly. Cap the pen, and pull it straight out, then the ink cartridge is free. The clearance for the cartridge is pretty tight. It's difficult to tell if it seated properly. Won't accept standard international converter either. We're talking about such a tiny tolerance issue in both cases that it must be blamed on the engineers. It's poorly designed. It works though. The pen writes fine, although not amazing. It takes cartridges, but I suspect only certain ones. I'm not sure though, since the converter I tried was on brand. The cap seems tight, so leakage and drying shouldn't be a problem. It's also very small in comparison, so it should seal better than "normal" pens. It's also designed to take several different pens. There's a ball point, fountain, pencil, and I think rollerball. If you don't like one, you should be able to swap in another style. I found the screwdrivers to be loose, and I didn't like that, but I don't really want that feature anyway. I have a cheap knockoff of this pen that I've used for years, and the nothing fits between them. I don't care, but I was curious. Keep that in mind if your goals have anything to do with that. The nib isn't the best either. It works fine, but seems to be bottom tier. I suspect it can be easily changed with a good one, but I haven't tried. Maybe after the ink runs out. I plan to use this as my daily beater, so it'll probably have a lot of work done to it. It seems to be good enough to do that. I got the brass one, so I'll see about mods eventually. I gave it 3 stars, because it's good. The price should have been much lower for the quality, and the fitment of the parts. Stepping back, it's in the price range of garbage pens just a few years ago. There are much better options for lower price now, and this pen didn't keep up. Monteverde should have probably lowered the price, raised the quality, or maybe discontinued it altogether. The entire pen can be disassembled, and put into a bowl of water, so cleaning shouldn't be a problem. The nib removes for cartridge change without touching the inky bit, so that's no problem. That's also not rare, so I kind of expect that these days. I got the brass version, so I have no intention of cleaning the outside. Other, finished pens might have issues, but I don't know. My cheap yellow knockoff has stayed clean for about 10 years, so I'm sure the genuine article would too. If I were to choose my first pen having the knowledge I have now, this wouldn't be it. I'm still looking for the right pen, but I have several I like. This one has a place in my collection. If you're looking for your first pen, buy the Amazon Basics to see what you want. It's really cheap, and ticks all of the boxes half way. Mediocre in every category. This one is good in like... One. Mediocre in some, crap in others. It'll work though.

Its a novelty item.
Its a novelty item. Its a nice novelty item, but still, thats what it is. The trick to getting the cartridge out of the pen case is being careful to unscrew the nib as youre unscrewing the cap so the nib assembly all comes out at once. Once thats done, the cartridge will come out & it can be assembled as per the instructions and it will write. Be careful not to put the nib on too far, or youll have to take it apart again. Otherwise, Im sure the tools work fine, and the brass is gonna look real nice as it patinas.

Does not work, arrived broken
There's a lot that can be said about this fountain pen. It has a nice weight to it, it's well balanced, and it has a lot of useful features. The hexagonal shape of the barrel makes it comfortable to hold. I would love this pen if it worked! Sadly, it arrived defective and not in working condition. The nib fell apart as I was trying to remove it to find out why there was no ink flow. If I shake the pen, it rattles like there's something inside. I removed the stylus and screwdriver! It still rattled after the removable parts were taken off. I eventually got the remainder of the broken tip-off. The cartridge is stuck inside and it was put in backward. The bottoms of Monteverde ink cartridges are hard flat disks, so it wasn't difficult to figure out why there was no ink flow into the nib. I couldn't get the cartridge out, it's stuck near the end of the barrel. As a pen, it is useless. I am extremely disappointed. I'm Autistic and I deal with a nasty case of dysgraphia. It is painful for me to write! This is a problem as I am a writer by trade. I use fountain pens to offset the dysgraphia pain caused by the drag you get with ballpoint pens. I deal with micro hand tremors. That's taken care of with a heavyweight pen. I primarily use metal fountain pens as a medical device. I love the weight and feel of this pen but... it's no good without a way to attach an ink cartridge or converter. I might have gotten one that is factory defective. I loathe Amazon's return policy with a passion. I don't have a car, not easy access to where I can ship back a defective item. I'm on SSDI. I can't afford to buy another one and hope it works. I now own a very nice ruler and stylus with a level.

Nice weight. Great quality!
I like a slender feel near the grip. Pen feels just a bit fat down by where you fingers grip for me. I have decent sized hands too. Maybe a taper a bit like a pencil tip would improve comfort. Other that that, great pen!
