The cons: like all crumb rubber, the plates are way wider than cast iron plates or even urethane bumpers. This means that if you have bars with short sleeves you wont be able to fit a lot of weight on the bar. Compared to iron, it is also quite a bit more difficult to move the 45 lb plates around and get them on and off the bar, as they are about 4 inches wide and have no handle. This is always an issue with crumb rubber though and is not specific to this product. I eventually upgraded to urethane bumpers for the convenience and because I prefer to use bars with short sleeves.
