USB to Parallel 36 Pin Centronics Printer Adapter Cable

a very reasonably priced piece of kit which helps me use older gear and peripherals with up top date computers.

As I have a nine year old PC running Windows XP SP3 and an even older Canon BJC 240 printer I was expecting trouble with this adapter.I was very pleasantly surprised. I removed the parallel cable and plugged Centronics connector into the Canon. I had to use a USB extension lead to reach the PC under the desk, but when I switched the printer on, it was recognised straight away. Windows announced "Found new hardware Canon BJC 240" and called it (copy 1) as I had the parallel driver still on the PC. I had to select the "NEW" printer in Word and away it went. No problems at all. Now I will be able to use my old reliable printer on a new laptop when Windows 10 is released!

Very short cable makes it difficult/impossible to use.

The only reason for buying this cable is if you have a pretty old printer and a modern computer. In my case, it's a Sony Vaio Windows 7 laptop and an ancient but very serviceable HP Laserjet 5.The cable installed itself without fuss and I can now use my trusty (and very economical) printer perfectly.My only reservation is that the construction of the printer plug feels a bit lightweight and delicate - hence 4 stars.

Good cable for this price, came on time. I pluged it in and it started working. One meter is bit short. I would recommend a bit longer cable, other wise it is a good cable. good product.

Installed without any issues and worked immediately. Just what I needed to connect an old (but perfectly formed) HP LaserJet 4 to a modern computer.

It arrived very quickly but I can't get to the back of my other computer to get the parallel connector out so I haven't used it yet. It was recognised immediately by my laptop so I don't anticipate any problems.
