Not smooth surface, leave rides on fondant paste

I made a thomas the tank cake for my great nephews birthday.the mold was excellent and so easy to use.

Have made several Thomas cakes for customers in the past, modelling the Thomas face by hand, this saved me so much time and effort and looked right first time! You will need to use modelling paste or flower paste, though, or sugar paste strengthened with cmc powder or gum tragacanth, as sugar paste alone is too soft. You just need to cut out tiny white and black discs for the eyes or paint them with a little food colour powder mixed with clear alcohol or lemon essence.

Just what I needed for my grandsons birthday cake.

I was little disappointed thought the thomas face was bigger then the mould that arrived its for a birthday cake so would have liked the face to have been bigger to show up on the cake

Much smaller than expected and not really what I need but will try it out a different time to see how accurate the picture is

Great, this made it very easy to make a Thomas (or Rosie or Percy or James) face for decorating cupcakes and to add to train cakes for my own Thomas the Tank fan !
