Using to secure shade cloth
Should work just fine to connect wire from shade cloth to hook into an eyelet. It will be outside in all weather and possibly the threaded fitting will get stuck, so use some grease on the threads.Basic carabiner, will take the weight for the project.

Strong, secure, and easy to use
I ordered these for hanging children's swings and hammocks from chains (photos), and they're perfect for that use, though they'd work well for much heavier loads. These screw-locking carabiners are rated by the manufacturer at 500 pounds, and the threads to lock them turn easily and provide additional security. A really good product at a good price.
